We offer 30 rooms all with private bath or shower, TV facilities with DStv. There are dining facilities, a choice of four bars, a mini casino, room service and laundry services (available on request).
Bayview Self-Catering Apartments
There are 2 family units facing the sea with double beds, two single beds and a sleeper couch. There are also 5 bachelor units with 3 or 4 single beds in each unit, braai facilities, on site parking and all units are fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, bed linen and towels (beach towels not included).
Units are serviced daily and laundry facilities are available.

Gonubie Hotel Facilities

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. Pub lunches and dinners can be enjoyed on The Deck up to 21h00, from where you have unsurpassed sea views and one can often see dolphins playing in the waves, you may even be lucky enough to spot whales in the bay.

The Deck is divided between smoking and non smoking seating and we also offer a tasty kiddies menu. Dinner is served in the Galleon Restaurant and The Deck.
The Galleon a la carte menu boasts mouth watering seafood, fresh from local fishermen and tasty meat from local farmers. All our produce is sourced locally where possible.

Wedding Facilities
Finding the perfect wedding setting for your ‘big day’ is crucial and here at Gonubie Hotel we understand that the perfect venue contributes to your major moment.
We have been hosting weddings for over 15 years and with new renovated spaces we have helped find the perfect venue for our clients.

We have 3 wedding venues in separate locations and we provide tailor made packages to suit your requirements.
The Deck and the newly built section makes for a perfect wedding venue with breath taking sea views.
This space can be divided for your special day between smoking and non smoking, or if you don’t need the entire space then you can use the space you do need and we can separate the rest for you.

The Deck and the newly built section:
• Section 1 can seat 60-120 people
• Section 2 can seat 30-50 people
• Comes with a dance floor /stage
• Private bars

• Tables are set with the appropriate cutlery crockery and stem wear

The Nautical room is located in the centre of the Gonubie Hotel adjacent to the reception room. This well lit space is perfect for weddings and functions.
The Nautical room:

• Comes with dance floor and stage
• Private bar
• Tables and chairs and chair back covers
• Tables are set with the appropriate cutlery crockery and stem wear

The Galleon Restaurant is a intimate and cosy venue which can also be opened up to the dining room to accommodate more guests.

• Includes dance floor and stage
• Private bar

• Tables are set with the appropriate cutlery crockery and stem wear

Attractions and Activities
There are many activities that keep our guest entertained during their stay with us and these include sailing, surfing, wind surfing ; rock, river and ski boat fishing, diving, bowls, tennis, squash even golf at the local Gonubie Golf course. Horse riding can also be arranged and there is a bird sanctuary close to the hotel for the avid bird watchers.

There are local shopping centres both in Gonubie and in the main city East London which is only 15min away.

How To Get To Gonubie Hotel

If you are coming from Johannesburg, Pretoria, the west or north or thereabouts; just follow the N1 to Bloemfontein, from there take the N6 to Aliwal North, Queenstown and East London. Then follow directions to Gonubie; if you follow the road and miss the hotel you’ll end up in the sea.

If coming from Mpumalanga or Kwa-Zulu Natal take the N2 through the Transkei to East London, just shy of the city you’ll find the Gonubie off ramp, the main road runs straight into the Gonubie Hotel site.
Our friends from Cape Town, the Garden Route and PE have only the N2; but we suggest they follow the R72 from PE to East London. Once in EL follow the directions for the N2 to Mthatha, after the Beacon Bay off ramp; Gonubie is next.
