The Rose and Ale is situated in the Eastern Cape, in a beautiful
beach town called Gonubie, just 15 minutes outside of East London.
Only a 5 minute walk to the famous Gonubie Boardwalk, you are sure
to enjoy a relaxed and exciting stay.
The Rose and Ale Accommodation
Blue Room
The Blue room is a lovely tranquil room ideal for short stays with
a luxurious queen sized bed with percale linen and fur throw.
There is a spacious, full en-suite bathroom with bath and shower,
selected toiletries and towels provided.
Also in the room is a small desk / dining table. A nifty cupboard
kitchenette with toaster, kettle, microwave, double hot plate and
bar fridge available with a full range of crockery, cutlery and
glassware.

Complimentary tea/coffee tray with home-made rusks provided. Outside
is a private little covered deck with wooden garden furniture and a braai.
Secure off street parking.
Rose Cottage
The Rose Cottage is a beautifully decorated self catering unit. There
is 1 Bedroom with a double bed and en-suite shower and an open plan kitchen
and living area with a sleeper couch to accommodate extra guests.
All linen is fine percale fabric for added comfort and luxury, towels
are also provided. The kitchen is equipped with a full range of crockery,
cutlery and glassware as well as countertop oven/hob and standard fridge
freezer.
Enjoy breakfast at the breakfast nook. The Living area also contains
a work desk and TV with selected DSTV channels. Relax in one of the antique
arm chairs which add to the charm of the cottage.
Outside the Rose Cottage is a little enclosed rose garden with latchable
gate, covered deck and braai facilities as well as secure off-street parking.
Complimentary tea and coffee tray with home-made rusks provided. Service
of cottage available on Monday / Wednesday / Friday.
Cider Place
Cider Place is a large comfortable unit with a large bedroom with a queen
sized bed and 2 single beds and an en-suite shower.
In the separate room, there is an open plan kitchen and living area with
a double sleeper couch for extra accommodation.
The living area is cosy with ample seating, TV and selected DSTV channels.
The kitchen is s elf catering with breakfast nook and is fully equipped
with a full range of crockery, cutlery and glassware.
Microwave, countertop oven / hob with a standard fridge / freezer. Outside
you have your own private entrance with secure off-street parking and
a large covered entertainment area with weber braai.
All percale linen and towels (except beach towels) supplied as well as
a complimentary tea / coffee tray and fresh home-made rusks. The unit
is serviced on Monday / Wednesday / Friday.

Tourist Route
- Jikeleza route: Murambi roses, have a cup of tea amongst the roses and
then cut a bunch yourself to take home.
- Michaelas Restaurant on top of the dunes at Cintsa East.
- Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve which serves meals to the public on
Wednesday evenings.
- Lion Park where breeding of the valuable white lions takes place as
well as an animal sanctuary and picnic spot.
- Mpongo Park Game Reserve which serves a magnificent Sunday Lunch overlooking
the Hippo Pool.
- Four golf courses nearby (Gonubie 9 hole about 2 km away)
- Near enough to East London for business visitors.
How To Get To The Rose and Ale
From Port Elizabeth Airport:
From Port Elizabeth on the R72 / Settlers Way, pass the EL airport on
your left. Follow R72 for a long way, you will go over the harbour bridge
eventually and then through East London, don’t turn off yet just
keep going.
Go straight over the Oxford Street circle until you reach Fitzpatric Road.
Turn left, this road will take you onto the North East expressway (R72).
Keep going on the R72 until you see signs to the N2, Mthata direction.
Take the onramp onto the N2 and go until you reach the Gonubie turnoff.
Take the Gonubie turnoff and turn right at the traffic lights at the bottom
of the offramp.This is the Gonubie Main Road (continue directions from
“all routes”).
From Johannesburg & Bloemfontein:
Take N3 to traffic circle at EL, first left off circle. First turnoff
left to Gonubie (well sign-posted).This is the start of the Gonubie Main
Road, drive until you reach the intersection of the N2, then follow directions
below as all routes join here.
From Mthata (N2)
Take the Gonubie off-ramp. Turn left at the bottom of the off-ramp, this
is the Gonubie main road.

The Gonubie main Road is very long about 10kms, you will first pass farms
and small- holdings then you will start to see shops etc.
Go over first traffic lights (kwik spar on left)Go over second set of
traffic lights (Gonubie Primary school on left). About 2kms on you will
then see the Gonubie Super Spar on your right.
Keep going for one block after the Super Spar, on the right you will
see Pearce street, go past it and our house is on the right just past
the corner but still in Main Road.
111 Main Road, with a big white wall, one set of swinging wooden gates
and another electric sliding wooden gate. There is a sign on the wall
and the number of the house is on the wall of the house and the perimeter
wall.
