Each secluded, air-conditioned suite has a viewing deck where guests
are treated to spectacular views, its own private plunge pool, a fully-stocked
bar fridge and free wireless internet access.
Suites:
You can expect an exceptional level of comfort and luxury during your
stay at Kichaka. The 10 exclusive suites at Kichaka have been built to
provide every amenity. Attention to detail ensures unrivalled levels of
sumptuous opulence.
Each unique suite is named after the indigenous bush that surrounds it.
Built of stone and thatch, the suites are situated in secluded settings
ensuring total privacy and a real sense of space. The suites are connected
to the main lodge by walkways which wind through the natural bush.

The Main lodge:
The main lodge at Kichaka is constructed in stone and thatch which blends
seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. It overlooks a large water
hole popular with hippo, giraffe, elephant and countless other game.
The lounge and dining areas have been constructed to give the best possible
aspect over unspoilt bush.
Large terraces stretch over the waterhole & provide a magnificent
viewing deck. The terrace also extends into a small island creating an
enchanting outdoor dining area.
Above the lounge is a library which overlooks the waterhole. This room
provides a quiet place to curl up with your favorite book or catch your
favourite sporting events which you can view on our flat screen plasma
TV.
The main lodge & suites have complimentary, Wi-Fi internet facilities
available to our guests. The wine lover is well catered for at Kichaka
Lodge, our large wine cellar offers a range of premier wines, selected
by our specialist wine cellar management team.
You can even relax and enjoy a swim in our rim-flow
pool adjacent to the waterhole where the hippos wallow, or just enjoy
sun, cocktails and glorious views on the large pool terrace.
The immediate camp area is secured by discreet electric fencing to ensure
safety of guests and to deter elephants from destroying our trees. Being
uniquely protected in this manner, Kichaka guests are able to take advantage
of the opportunity to walk freely around the camp and enjoy the local
flora and birdlife.
Kichaka Lodge is ideally situated just over one hour
from Port Elizabeth airport. Guests can land at the airport; enjoy a comfortable
drive in luxury transfer and within the hour, be relaxing, cocktail in
hand, overlooking the magnificent Eastern Cape bush and Big 5 game.
Food and wine:
Kichaka offers 5 star cuisine and impeccable personal service. Inventive
and talented Executive Chef Haji Hamit's cuisine epitomizes sophisticated
contemporary South African cuisine. The excellence of our cuisine and
our superb wine list will make your dining experience one to be long remembered.
Sumptuously prepared meals are enjoyed in the main dining
room, in the privacy of your own suite, or at one of our specially designed
outdoor areas.
We take pride in offering a personal and flexible service ensuring that
your dining experiences with us are perfectly suited to satisfy your individual
tastes.
The Kichaka wine list is especially selected by our expert wine cellar
managers and a choice is offered, white & sparkling South African
house wines are available.
For the connoisseur, a further selection of rare and fine premier wines
and imported French champagne is also available. A selection of Cuban
cigars is on offer from the humidor.
Activities:
Experienced rangers maximize every opportunity to ensure
exceptional viewing during your game drive on this established 20,000
acre Big 5 game reserve in the malaria-free Eastern Cape.
Excellent sightings of lion, elephant, rhino and buffalo, as well as cheetah,
hippo, giraffe, hyena, zebra, warthog and numerous species of antelope
are enjoyed on game drives across the open plains of the reserve.
Large herds of plains game, including eland, gemsbok, springbok, wildebeest
and zebra among others, are enjoyed on this reserve which boasts diverse
vegetation including 5 biomes: savanna grassland, valley bushveld, fynbos,
riverine forest and acacia woodland.
Game viewing is carried out during the morning and evening
when you are guided by your game ranger in an open game viewing vehicle.
If you have a particular interest, please mention it to your ranger; who
will be happy to merge your plans with those of the group.
The game drives will take between three and four hours, with a sundowner
stop at sunset and a coffee stop in the morning. It is always advisable
to bring warm clothing along, even in summer. Please do not forget to
bring your binoculars, cameras and video camera’s along.
Your safety is of utmost concern to us, and your game ranger will inform
you of the necessary safety precautions as you commence your game drive.
Massages:
Indulge in a wonderful massage treatment in the comfort of your own room
or on your private viewing deck. Our qualified therapist will help you
to relax and unwind in the perfect surrounds & sounds that nature
has to offer.

Activities at Kichaka & Surrounds:
At Kichaka Lodge you can enjoy private game drives, game viewing from
the main lodge, bird watching, swimming, massage therapies as well as
the rest & relaxation provided by our first class service and facilities.
Arrange a Cosmic Safari with your ranger, and view the wonders of space
with our high powered telescope. With little or no light pollution, a
Cosmic Safari at Kichaka is an opportunity to star gaze in wonder at the
Southern Hemisphere’s Milky Way and identify Orion’s Belt,
the Southern Cross and Scorpio.
Within the immediate vicinity, we can offer a range of additional activities
including golf, hiking, horse trails and fishing.
Due to its prime location, Kichaka Lodge is also well placed as a base
to explore the stunning & historic Frontier Country & Sunshine
Coast.

Leave the airport turn left at the traffic circle
Continue over the railway line and turn right at the traffic lights (Heugh
Rd)
Continue straight to the last traffic lights at the bottom of the hill
Turn left and follow the N2 towards Grahamstown for +- 100 km
Turn left at the Kichaka sign
Continue 3,5 km on the gravel road
You will arrive at the Kichaka Lodge gate on your left
Proceed up the road to the reception area where you will be met by Kichaka
Staff
Directions (to Port Elizabeth airport 110km)
At the Kichaka gates turn right and travel back 3,5 km to the tarred road
(N2)
Follow the N2 towards Port Elizabeth.
Take the Settlers highway off-ramp and continue straight, with the sea
on your left, following the airport signs.
At the traffic lights, turn right going up the hill - the airport directions
are clearly signposted from this point on.
Directions (from Grahamstown 35km)
Follow the N2 from Grahamstown towards Port Elizabeth for 30km
Turn right at the Kichaka sign.
Continue 3,5km on the gravel road
You will arrive at the Kichaka Lodge gate on your left
Proceed up the road to the reception area where you will be met by Kichaka
Staff
Directions (to Grahamstown 35km)
At the Kichaka gates, turn right and travel 3,5km back to the tarred road
(N2)
Turn left N2 and travel 30km to Grahamstown
Turn left into Grahamstown and at the traffic lights turn left again to
take you to the centre of town.
