The name “Zur Alten Mine” is German meaning "to the old mine" because the property was a former gold claim. Our guest farm is perfect for bird watchers and nature lovers as overlooks the Mpumalanga escarpment and is surrounded by forests.

Zur Alten Mine Accommodation

We offer 3 different chalets that overlook a small dam, all chalets are supplied with different size towels and they are serviced daily.
Wooden Chalets
We have 2 chalets of this kind and they accommodate 3 people. They have 1 bedroom with 2 single beds and an extra bed in the lounge, a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, water cooker, plunger, mini-stove oven, toaster, cutlery, crockery and cookware. The chalets have views of the beautiful Gods Window and a small dam.
Family Cottage
The cottage has 2 bedrooms with a double bed, 2 single beds, an extra bed in the lounge and accommodates 5 guests. The kitchen is fully equipped with a conventional stove and oven, fridge, plunger, kettle, toaster, cookware, cutlery and crockery.
Honeymoon Chalet
This chalet has views of our dam and the forest and a braai facility for relaxing. The chalet accommodates 2 guests and has fully equipped kitchen with a kettle, fridge, plunger, mini stove and oven, cookware, crockery, toaster, cutlery and a private veranda.

How To Get To Zur Alten Mine

From Johannesburg
Zur Alten Mine is approximately 380 kilometres from OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg). Take the N12 from Johannesburg; pass Witbank and the Shell Ultra City outside Middelburg. Turn off the N4 at Belfast ± 206 kilometres from OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg International Airport) to Belfast. Take the R540 from Belfast to Dullstroom (33 kilometres). Continue on the R540 from Dullstroom to Lydenburg (55 kilometres). From Lydenburg, take the R36 towards Ohrigstad / Pilgrim’s Rest, approximately 20km from Lydenburg turn right to Pilgrim’s Rest and continue to the Sabie / Graskop split, take the left split to Graskop and you will find us 100mt from the turn-off on the left hand side.
From the Kruger National Park
Take the R535 to Graskop (40km), once in Graskop turn left at the second stop street (Pilgrims road, R533) and travel for 4km where you will find us on the right hand side.
