Tangala Safari Camp is situated in the 22 000 acre Thornybush Reserve, a prime ecological area abundant with wildlife.
This diverse reserve attracts various wildlife including the Big 5, has stunning views of the Drakensberg Mountains and is close to the Orpen Gate of the world famous Kruger National Park.

The camp consists of a central dining and lounge area with full bar and a swimming pool with a deck. Hot water is provided at all times with traditional geysers.
At Tangala Safari Camp you can hear the Lions roar while you enjoy sundowners.

We offer 5 twin bedded thatched chalets, all en-suite with shaded verandahs and each chalet has its own private viewing patio.
As there is no electricity, lighting is provided by paraffin lantern. Kids under the age of 12 are accommodated on special application as we cater for children 12 years and older.

How To Get To Tangala Safari Camp

From Johannesburg
Eastbound out of Johannesburg take the N12 highway to eMalahleni (Witbank). At eMalahleni (Witbank), the N12 joins the N4 highway.
Continue on the N4, bypass Middelburg and then turn left off the N4 to Belfast, proceed on the R540 to Dullstroom and Lydenburg.
Take the R36 (which becomes to R527) towards Hoedspruit, passing through Origstad and descending down the Able Erasmus Pass.

At Hoedspruit, take the R40 towards Bushbuckridge, continue 6 km and turn left at the Eastgate Airport sign / Argyle Road.
Continue 14 km (tarred road) and turn right onto Guernsey Road (following the signs to Thornybush Reserve). Continue 9km (gravel road) and turn left into the Thornybush Game Reserve gate.
The guard at the gate will give you a map to the lodge. There is an entrance fee to the reserve per vehicle payable at the lodge. Airport transfers from and to Eastgate Airport are available.
