Accommodation at The Thatches

Thatches offers thirteen well-equipped and thought-out cabanas to make your holiday comfortable. The cabanas are set-up to provide a range of sleeping options.

The Twosome is an open plan room with a lounge, kitchen and double bed, perfect for a couple or single person travelling. The Family Four options have two bedrooms, with one double bed and two single beds. The Super Six chalets are larger, with two double-bunk beds in one room and a double bed in the other, making them well-suited to larger families and groups of friends.

There is a one chalet which is a little more luxurious. With en-suite bathrooms for both bedrooms and air-conditioning it is ideal for those looking for that little extra comfort.

All cabanas are cleaned free of charge by The Thatches staff six days a week, with optional Sunday cleaning available upon request. Each cabana is equipped with personal braai areas. Each cabana has a television - but please bring your own towels.

Facilities
There is a pool and entertainment area with a lapa, as well private patios and braaing facilities (with each chalet), Thatches is the ideal environment for couples, families or larger groups. Relaxation and peace of mind are paramount and Thatches offers security gated parking and 6 days a week cleaning service.

Activities Around Kei Mouth
The Great Kei is one of the most famous rivers in South Africa. Local legend calls it the door to the ‘Old Transkei’, but it is also well-known for excellent fishing and angling. Whether you are after rock, river or sea fishing, you’ll find it here.

The Kei Mouth is a unique location where the bird species of the Cape and Kwazulu Natal overlap, so it is excellent birding territory. There is also an abundance of beautiful butterflies and moths.

You can take a ride on the pleasure barge aptly named ‘The Fish Eagle’ where you’ll see an amazing abundance of the Wild Coast's famous bio-diversity as you travel inland up the Great Kei.

For those less nature-inclined there is a 13 hole golf course, tennis, squash, bowling rinks and (full size) snooker table at the nearby country club.

Horse-back rides, romantic or energetic, can be organized with a professionally run horse-riding company in the Kei Mouth town. There is even an adventure centre that offers paint-ball and abseiling for the insatiable adrenaline junkie!

Or you could just take long walks on the beach and swims in the warm Indian Ocean, followed by sun-downers at the pool, then spend the night any way you choose.
