beloved home should be. There is no reception area, you are welcome
the minute you walk through the front door. This is a home where
strangers quickly turn into friends and to which people return regularly.

Wake up every morning to the sound of the birds and then sit and watch the dolphins come in as the sun rises. Have breakfast on the verandah and gaze into a poetic canopy of trees. Spend the day on any of what we like to think are the four best beaches on the South Coast. Ride along the sand on horseback or just take a leisurely walk.
Play golf on an excellent nearby course, visit coffee, banana and macadamia nut plantations. Amble around the quaint shops. Venture down into Oribi Gorge, a place of echoes where at the base of the cliffs are rocks that are 100 million years old.
Go bird watching in the Umtamvuna River Valley, fringed with lush green forests and home to over 300 recorded species of birds or simply relax in our garden and enjoy the amazing variety of birds that come and nest here as well as the bushbuck and endangered blue duiker than wander through.
Leisure Bay’s beaches enjoy the warm waters of the Indian Ocean all year round. Secluded coves open into wide stretches of sand fringed by sub-tropical dune forests and coastal grasslands. If you're a swimmer, surfer, fisherman or simply seek out the glory of the sun, you will love exploring the coastline here.
The Umtamvuna Nature Reserve is famous for its spectacular views of the deep Umtamvuna River Gorge. It has the best nature walks along the entire Kwazulu-Natal coastline, including a few strenuous hikes. Along the way, you will see rare and endemic trees and plant species in a diversity of habitats, with magnificent wild flower displays after the spring rains.
As you will discover when you stay here, there is a wealth of natural beauty around Plumbago. Our very own garden is rich with coastal dune vegetation and home to a wide variety of the 300 bird species found in the area.
From the extraordinary beaches and nature reserves to our favourite Waffle House, various outlets for excellent coffee and local fare, as well as numerous arts and crafts venues along the South Coast Meander. And in the evening, try out our variety of fine restaurants and sample the best South African wine or simply return to Plumbago and do the same.
