Welcome to the private mountain hideaway, Mount Serene is situated on the slopes of the Magaliesberg Mountains, about 30km from the town of Magaliesburg on the R24; less than 100km from Johannesburg or Pretoria. There are many recreational and sporting facilities close by, including
game drives, horse riding, trout fishing, golf, tennis, quadbiking,
magalies meande and hot air ballooning to name but a few |

Mount Serene Accommodation
The Coach
The family unit is built into a 1937 wooden railway carriage which has
been renovated to accommodate a group of up to 8 people.
It has 3 bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with 2 single beds and one
with 2 bunk beds.
There is a lounge, dining room, kitchen and modern bathroom, all well
equipped for a comfortable, relaxing getaway.
Patios on both sides of the carriage ensure there is always a choice of
sun or shade, as well as spectacular views and great sunsets.
The private pool is for the use of the carriage guests only.
All crockery, cutlery, bedding and towels are provided.
Stone Cottage
The honeymoon cottage is made of solid stone from the Magaliesberg mountains,
and built to accommodate a couple only.
It comprises a bedroom with queen size bed, en suite bathroom with a 2
seater bathtub and double shower over the bath, plus a kitchen, dining
room and lounge.
A sliding door leads to a patio with private splash pool, braai and stunning
view of the Magaliesberg cliffs, towering 350m higher than the cottage.
This is the ultimate in privacy.
If you wish to see anyone else during your stay here you will have to
go out and look for them. All crockery, cutlery, bedding and towels are
provided.

Directions to Mount Serene
From Pretoria:
Take the new Platinum tollroad from Pretoria to Rustenburg. Just before
Rustenburg take the Waterfall mall offramp, left onto the R24.
Follow the R24 for 27km to the Harmony Farm turnoff.
Do not take this turn off but measure a further 2.7km on the R24 to the
Mount Serene turnoff to the left. Follow the signs for 1.9km
From Johannesburg:
There are many routes to the town of Magaliesburg.
If you are not sure which one to use please call us and we can direct
you depending on where you are departing from.
The R24 is the main route passing through the town of Magaliesburg.
Stay on the R24 and measure about 29km from Magaliesburg Town.
On the right hand side of the road, in the valley, you will see an enormous
solitary chicken shed.
The road then curves to the right and over a small blind rise.
The MOUNT SERENE turnoff is immediately after the blind rise and is easy
to miss as you drive.
Go slowly over the rise and turn right at the Mount Serene turnoff and
follow the signs for 1.9km.
