Makutsi enjoys thousands of hectares of African Nature in which we can take our clients on open Landrover Game Drives.
Most of your African Wildlife can be found here, and our guides are trained to focus on all aspects of nature.

As it is a private Game Reserve there are certain strict rules.
Only experienced and qualified guides are allowed to drive on this Reserve, allowing for professional conduct and respect of the natural environment and its wildlife. Because of this there are excellent chances to observe the wildlife in a very relaxed and natural manner.
Another rule is that no more than 2 vehicles are allowed to be with any animal at once, again giving them much space and respect, and allowing our clients spectacular sightings.

Surrounding Makutsi are many beautiful and famous landmarks including the Kruger National Park and the Blyde River Canyon.
A visit to an authentic Sotho Tribal Village gives you a taste of the local culture and its people.
These day excursions are conducted in comfortable, closed mini-buses.
This allows for a personalized and comfortable way to get to know more about South Africa, and also for guests and staff to get to know each other better.

Makutsi Private Game Reserve Accommodation

Makutsi Safari Farm is a privately owned Lodge in the north-east part of South Africa, about a 5 hours drive from Johannesburg and an hour drive from the Kruger National Park.
Guests stay in rondavels scattered around the main camp, surrounded by thousands of hectares of raw African bush.

The camp also offers two swimming pools with soft thermal-mineral water at 34°C.
It consists of natrium-hydrocarbonate-chlorine containingfluorine elements, offering healthy water for the guests (pools, drinking water, shower), as well as valuable water for the animals and vegetation in times of drought.

Nestled on top of a range of Koppies (rocky outcrops), offering an unspoilt view of the Drakensburg Mountains & lowveld, the focus of Makutsi Tented Camp is to offer you the adventure of walking safaris.

Surrounded by thousands of hectares of private bushveld, Makutsi Tented Camp can sleep up to 8 people in 4 twin/double safari tents under thatch.
All tents have electricity, a private, covered deck as well as an en-suite bathroom with hot/cold showers and flush toilets. The tents are spread along the Koppies on wooden decks raised above the ground.
Enjoy sitting on your private deck overlooking a small water hole, while taking in the tranquility of the African bush.

Makutsi Main Camp is set on about 10 hectares of tropical and landscaped gardens that provide guests with plenty of quiet places to relax and take in the surroundings.
The camp is rustic, clean and well organized, offering privacy and personal attention to each and every guest.
Nestled among indigenous trees, Makutsi offers two warm thermal mineral water pools, allowing for adventure and relaxation to be combined.
Guests stay in African style Rondavels (Bungalows), scattered around the open and spacious Makutsi Camp.
All Rondavels have en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold water, electricity, a mini-bar, coffee/tea facilities, ceiling fans and a private terrace.
The gold of Makutsi is our natural, warm mineral spring water.
This water can be enjoyed in our 33m outdoor pool, and indoor Roman Bath.
This allows for a perfect way of relaxing and recharging your batteries in between the safari and excursion adventures. The same water also feed the Rondavels, and healthy mineral water pours out of your showers and taps.
