Bateleur Nature Reserve is famous for its SATOA
accredited Stamvrug Hiking Trails, consisting of seven different
circular and day trails, laid out amongst the Waterberg Kloofs and
Escarpments.
Stay in self-catering secluded farmhouses, log cabins, or bush
camps.
Enjoy hiking, game viewing, bird-watching (Kloof Bird Hide), mountain
biking, swimming, fishing (catch and release).
After reporting to reception, you are on your own at Bateleur Nature
Reserve.
Once settled at the accommodation of your choice, you are requested
to restrict driving to an absolute minimum.
Bateleur Nature Reserve is best explored on foot.

Bateleur Nature Reserve Accommodation
Kloof Base-Camp 3A & 3B
Kloof Base Camp is perched on the edge of a Kloof, which drains Bateleur
Nature Reserve’s upper wetland into the Buffalo River, which runs
through the lower wetland.
This rustic camp consists of two individual dormitories with nine bunk
beds respectively.
Each has its own adjoining bathroom.
A communal kitchen/dining room and two lapa's compliment the Base Camp.
Ample firewood and wood-fired hot-water donkeys are provided. Bring your
own sleeping bags and camping gear.
The camp's close proximity to the Kloof, the Kloof Dam, the Swimming Hole,
and the starting points for Kloof-, Moepel- and Panorama Hiking Trail,
set the scene for an ultimate Waterberg experience.
Kloof Bush Camp 3C
Kloof Base Camp Unit 3C is part of the popular Kloof Base Camp Complex.
Whereas Units 3A and 3B are fitted out to meet the basic requirements
of seasoned hikers, Unit 3C has been “Sexed Up” to include
the basic luxuries sought by those who want to experience the Waterberg
Wilderness to the Max, without compromising too much on what civilization
has to offer.
It has its own adjoining bathroom and kitchenette, and, private braai
facilities.
Bring your own linen, cutlery and crockery. Ample firewood and hot-water
is provided.
The camp's close proximity to the Kloof, the Kloof Dam, the Swimming Hole,
and the Rock Pools set the scene for the ultimate Waterberg experience.
Kloof Bush Camp 3C sleeps six people.

Log Cabin A
The comfortable self-catering open plan Log Cabin has been built on stilts
on a North-facing slope amongst the trees and rocks.
A balcony provides you with an unparalleled view of the Waterberg.
Outside find a lapa with braai area.
This secluded 'Lovers Retreat' is the preferred choice for honeymoon couples,
or lovers.
Cool off in the clear rock pools, within short walking distance.
Mispel Cottage 5
Apart from its breathtaking view of the Waterberg Mountain range, Mispel
Cottage 5 overlooks a watering hole.
Visitors can expect to see most game from their front stoep.
It consists of two bedrooms, both en-suite, a spacious open plan living
area with a cosy fireplace for cold nights.
Mispel Cottage 5 leads onto a front porch, overlooking the upper wetlands
and a back porch with a secluded braai area in the bush. Mispel Cottage
5 sleeps up to five people in comfort.
It is situated within the breeding perimeter of Bateleur Nature Reserve.
Mountain Villa 4
Carved high into the mountainside with a breathtaking view of the plateau,
the upper wetland and typical Waterberg mountain scenery, nestles this
spacious villa.
Mountain Villa has a large dining-room/lounge and a family- or conference
room, all opening out on balconies overlooking the plateau.
It has five bedrooms, two bathrooms as well as two outside ablution area’s
serving the swimming pool area and the braai area at the back of the house.
Mountain Villa is the ideal destination for two or three families and
sleeps twelve, a family get-together, or serves as a small and affordable
conference venue.
Being so spacious, additional bedding is easily arranged prior to arrival.
Conferences and workshops for up to 15 delegates are held at the Villa.
Mountain Villa is situated within the breeding perimeter of Bateleur Nature
Reserve.
Stamvrug Base Camp 6A, 6B & 6C x 3
Stamvrug Bush-Camp lies hidden in the fold of a small Kloof on top of
the plateau.
It borrows its name from the abundance of the Stamvrug Tree (Transvaal
Milk plum) from which the well-known Stamvrug Hiking Trail also derives
its name.
This camp is situated within the breeding perimeter of Bateleur Nature
Reserve.
The rustic camp consists of three dormitories with eight bunk beds each,
two lapa's and ablutions.
Ample firewood and a wood-fired hot-water donkey are provided.
Bring your own sleeping bags and camping gear.
The Zebra, Leopard- and Escarpment Hiking Trails start from this camp.

Stone Cottage B
This comfortable, self-catering unit is situated on a North-facing gradient
looking North-East.
A Wrap around Stoep provides you with breathtaking views of the Waterberg.
Here you will find a well equipped braai area under the trees.
A cool breeze compensates for the warmest midday Sun.
Stone Cottage has been constructed with a Ramp, French doors and an 'open'
shower to provide for handicapped visitors.
Cool off in the Mountain Breeze or the rock pools within walking distance.
Watch most of the Game from your stoep.
Vaalboom (C)
Vaalboom C is a comfortable 2-sleeper for the budget conscious couple.
It is fully equipped for the Self catering with all linen, crockery, cutlery
and electrical kitchen equipment.
Situated in the Game Breeding Camp you can expect Game on your stoep and
Leopard nibbling on your toes (Not quite, but you will see Leopard and
Brown Hyena spoor).
Vaalboom used to be an old "Kaya" with a stunning view over
the Waterberg and just had to be upgraded.
We used "Leftovers" to get to a comfortable two-sleeper. Vaalboom
has a studio or open plan layout and features an en-suite Bathroom.
Vaalboom sports a beautiful old Vaalboom tree covering a Lapa/Braai area
where guest will spend most of there time while enjoying a beautiful view
of the Waterberg Mountain range.
Priced for the Budget conscious, or the up-market Hiker looking for a
littler extra luxury and privacy it represents "best value for money"
at Bateleur.
