We are situated just off Hendry Road which is part of the M17
that starts at the beach front as Argyle Road and as you drive inland
up towards the Berea it changes its name to Springfield Road, then
Earl Haig Road and finally Hendry Road.
As the guesthouse is situated on Mountain View Avenue the name
‘Bhekintaba’ was suggested, which, when roughly translated
from Zulu to English, means ‘view from a mountain’ -
‘bheka’ (view) and ‘intaba’ (mountain).
Bhekintaba Guest House Accommodation
We have 7 rooms, 1 room with a queen size bed , 2 rooms with two
single beds in each room, 1 room with a queen size bed and two single
beds and 1 room with a queen size bed and sleeper couch.

Self Catering Unit:
Two double bedrooms with air conditioning and queen beds ( no single beds
). Each bed has been provided with a mosquito net.
There is a sleeper couch in open plan lounge, an open plan kitchen with
4 ring electric hob ( no oven ), fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and
a bathroom with shower cubicle, bath, toilet and basin
Remote controlled TV with DSTV & MNet is available together with private
entrances, hairdryer and an electronic safe. Private balcony on which
there is a wooden outdoor table and chairs is also available.
Bhekintaba Guest House Facilities
We have 7 bedrooms in total, 5 bed & breakfast rooms and 2 bedrooms
within our self catering unit. On the upper level we have a plunge pool
and sunbathing area; a large lapa under which there is an outdoor table
and chairs.
On the ground floor we have a smaller lapa, again with outdoor table and
chairs. We have adequate on-site parking and for anyone who has problems
with stairs, we have ground floor bedrooms, as well as the breakfast room
also being situated on the ground floor.
All bedrooms have air-conditioning, tea / coffee making facilities, fridge,
DSTV / MNET, electronic safe, hairdryer, soap and shampoo is supplied.
Breakfast dining area with small adjoining lounge situated on the ground
floor, there is a portable braai, laundry service available on site (extra
cost) and secure on site parking.

How To Get To Bhekintaba Guest House
From South Coast via N2:
Head north on the N2 motorway. When you reach Junction 165 (Four Level
Interchange) take the N3 to Durban. Stay on the N3 until the King Dinuzulu
Road (Berea Road) off ramp Junction 3 / King Dinuzulu Road (Berea Road
M13 Tollgate), which is just before the Tollgate Bridge.
Turn left at the traffic lights, which takes you onto Peter Mokaba Road
(Ridge Road). Stay on Peter Mokaba Road (Ridge Road) to the end where
there is a T junction and a slip road to the left.
Take the slip road onto Earl Haig Road and continue until you come to
a set of traffic lights, on the corner of which there is Roseglen Supermarket
and eThekwini College.
Turn left at the traffic lights onto Hendry Road. Turn 2nd right into
Mountain View Avenue, proceed along to the end and we are on the right
hand side, second set of double black gates from the end, No. 46. The
intercom is on the right hand side gate post.
OR
Head north on the N2 motorway to Junction 170 (M19 Umgeni Road). Turn
right onto Umgeni Road. Continue along Umgeni Road until you come to Alpine
Road (M10 Overport).
Turn right onto Alpine Road / M10 and continue until you come to Hendry
Road (M17 Morningside). Turn left onto Hendry Road / M17, continue up
the hill and Mountain View Avenue is the first turning on the left.
Proceed along to the end and we are on the right hand side, second set
of double black gates from the end, No. 46. The intercom is on the right
hand side gate post.
From the City:
Head north on Stalwart Simelane (Stanger Street) for 2.3kms. Stay in the
left lane and take the off ramp for Sandile Thusi (Argyle Road / M17).
Head up Sandile Thusi (Argyle Road / M17) whose name changes to Springfield
Road / M17 further up, and as you climb to the top of the hill and over
the top you will come to Peter Mokaba Road (Ridge Road) (on your left)
and a set of traffic lights.
Go straight ahead at the traffic lights and the road will now become Earl
Haig Road. Continue until you come to a set of traffic lights, on the
corner of which there is Roseglen Supermarket and eThekwini College.
Turn left at the traffic lights onto Hendry Road/M17. Turn 2nd right into
Mountain View Avenue, proceed along to the end and we are on the right
hand side, second set of double black gates from the end, No. 46. The

From Pietermaritzburg / Johannesburg:
Stay on the N3 until the King Dinuzulu Road (Berea Road) off ramp Junction

Airport), which is approximately 35km North of Durban:
From North Coast via N2:
Approaching N3 interchange keep in left hand lane and join N3 at the interchange.
Head for Durban and City. Keep to left hand lane until the King Dinuzulu
Road (Berea Road) off ramp Junction 3 / King Dinuzulu Road (Berea Road
M13 Tollgate), which is just before the Tollgate Bridge.
Turn left at the traffic lights, which takes you onto Peter Mokaba Road
