Welcome to De Denne Guest House, a tranquil
haven enveloped in farmlands in the heart of the Klein Karoo, South
Africa.
This cosy guest house is situated on a working ostrich and alfalfa
farm, with some 6,000 ostriches on extensive alfalfa fields, and
spectacular views of the Olifants and Swartberg mountain range.

Semi-self catering barbecue packs delivered to your cottage - enjoy the
spectacular view - table set - fire made. Local wine is also available
on request, price list will be provided. All these served with a crisp
garden salad and garlic rolls.
Dinners at De Denne:
We serve formal dinners & light meals in addition to self-cook BBQ
packs.
Farm Tours:
The tour starts at 09:00 at De Denne and the guests are welcomed by our
tour guide.
This tour is interesting as well as educational as the history of the
ostrich, feeding, breeding and different species are discussed and shown
to guests.
You will be able to see and experience the ostrich in the farm environment.
The incubator room is the ultimate as the hatching chicks are the most
adorable little things and exciting moments of seeing them hatch is something
you will remember for ever.
Traditionally well-known for caves and ostrich farms, you will be surprised
how much there is to do in Oudtshoorn and the surrounding area.
You can easily stay a week without getting through everything that the
area has to offer.
From adventure to wine-tasting, the town of Oudtshoorn has something
for everyone, young and not-so-young, all within close driving distance
from De Denne.
HIGHGATE OSTRICH FARM
On the neighbouring farm next to De Denne. Ride an ostrich and take a
friendly bet on the races.
CANGO WILDLIFE RANCH
Help support endangered species and get up close and personal with wild
cats. Wonderful for kids with a petting zoo, playground and walk-in aviary.
For the adventurous - cage dive with crocs!
CANGO CAVES
Arguably the area's most well-known attraction. Standard tours depart
every hour on the hour, and for the more adventurous who wish to squeeze
through the devil's postbox, adventure tours depart every hour on the
half-hour.
SWARTBERG PASS
Drive the steepest and most scenic pass in South Africa, which was officially
opened on the 10th January 1888. A gravel road, this pass is easy to drive
with 2-wheel drive vehicles and is a wonderful day out, stopping in Prince
Albert for lunch.
MEERKAT ADVENTURES
Take a walk on the wild side with Devey on a wild meerkat tour - the only
one of its kind in the world. Sunrise tours depart every day. Booking
is essential.

CP NEL MUSEUM
Even if you are not very much interested in the historical side of life,
you should experience the C.P.Nel Museum, one of the best country museums
in South Africa.
LE ROUX'S TOWNHOUSE
An excellent example of one of the many fine 'feather palaces' that are
found in the area during the ostrich feather boom of the early 20th century.
THE ACCL ROUTE (ART, CHEESE, CHOCOLATE & LIQUEUR ROUTE)
A brand new tourist route has just been launched in Oudtshoorn. It gives
visitors the opportunity to experience something more than just caves
and ostriches.
THE LITTLE KAROO WINE ROUTE
The Little Karoo is famous for its ports, sherry, brandy and specialist
wines. A visit to a few of the wonderful cellars close to De Denne is

Weddings:
From weddings to office year-end functions, De Denne is a wonderful setting
for your special event. Please contact us to discuss your personal requirements.
It is possible to hire the whole of De Denne for your function, including
sole use of accommodation if required as part of the function package.
Weddings at De Denne:
De Denne provides the perfect setting for a boutique or intimate wedding
ceremony and reception.
Ceremonies are held in an alcove on the main house, which will be adorned
with flowers of your choice, and a table for your Minister.Your guests
will be seated on white chairs on either side of a white or red carpet
runner under white parasols to shade them from the afternoon sun.
After wedding vows have been exchanged, the bride kissed and the register
signed, your guests will sprinkle you with rose petals before edging along
the lawn to tables offering champagne cocktails and canape's.
Soft music can be played or a local violinist or ensemble can be arranged
in celebration of your special day. While they entertain your guests,
you can accompany the photographer to capture these special memories of
your wedding at De Denne.
On your return, you and your guest will enjoy pre-dinner drinks around
the candle lit pool with the backdrop of the
Karoo sunset and soft calls of the ostriches in the background. Dinner
will be served in a specially decorated marquee tent and the night is
yours in celebration with your every need attended.

Directions:
Located along the world famous R62 route, from Cape Town to Mossel Bay
where it enters the Garden Route on the N2.Four hours from Cape Town,
10 minutes drive from Oudtshoorn, and only two hours from Knysna. De Denne
is very central to all the tourist attractions in the area.
