In the heart of the little Karoo, at the foot of the majestic Swartberg Mountain Range, lies the exclusive Swartberg Private Game Lodge. Within a wildlife estate, it adjoins the Swartberg Nature Reserve, part of the World Heritage Site of the Cape Region. The area is malaria-free and boasts an abundance of wildlife. Guests can explore a unique, ecologically diverse environment from the comfort of an intimate and exclusive Karoo-colonial style Lodge. Meticulous attention to detail, homeliness with understated sophistication, delicious meals, spacious bedrooms, expansive patios and a crystal clear pool make the Lodge a wonderful retreat.

Fitting to the Karoo-colonial style, expansive patios provide insulation from the hot summer days, and cold winters when the snow lies high on the mountains above the Lodge.

Guests are welcome to browse through the books in the library, catch up on the day's news on satellite TV in the communal lounge, enjoy a freshly-ground cup of coffee in the dining area or relax beside the crystal clear pool.

Swartberg Private Game Lodge Accommodation

Nine very spacious bedrooms provide the perfect retreat, with their décor inspired by the flora and fauna of the region.
Extra-length beds can be made up twin, or king, and sleeper couches in the Deluxe rooms can accommodate children without compromising spaciousness.
All rooms have private patios; six of the rooms have full en-suite bathrooms with three having en-suite showers.
All rooms are equipped to cater for your every need including tea/coffee making facilities, personal safes, ceiling fans and hairdryers.

Swartberg Private Game Lodge Activities

Game drives in the comfort of an open game-viewing vehicle, with an experienced ranger, allow guests to experience all the landscape has on offer.
Free of large predators, there is a unique opportunity for the more energetic to explore the area on foot. A limited number of quads are available for guided outrides.

The estate is home to nearly twenty species of large mammal, including the largest antelope of all, the Eland. Kudu, Oryx, Nyala, Wildebeest, Hartebeest, Blesbok, Springbok, Impala, Lechwe and Giraffe are easily viewed, among others. The endangered Cape Mountain Zebra is well established.

The vegetation varies from Mountain Fynbos to Succulent Karoo and Renosterveld. Protea species can be found in the higher-lying areas, while aloes dominate the landscape on the lower slopes.
Most plants flower in the spring, while the protea species tend to flower in autumn, and the bright aloe flowers light up the landscape in winter.
The rich floral diversity attracts a wide variety of birdlife, from sunbirds to raptors to Blue Cranes.
Night drives may be arranged, dependent upon the season, and provide a different and exciting wildlife experience.

Authentic home cooking, sumptuous breakfasts, light lunches and three-course dinners will delight.
