Hippo Inn has seven en-suite rooms, with two three quarter beds, air conditioners, TV, M-Net, tea/coffee facilities and stocked fridge overlooking sparkling pool.
There are two self-catering units with fully equipped kitchen, TV, M-Net and air conditioners and overhead fan. Hippo Inn also has one double and three quarter bed.
Family Unit: two double rooms with two three quarter beds, bathroom, separate toilet, lounge, dining room and kitchen. Braai facility available under the lapa overlooking the pool.
Things To Do in Richards Bay
This part of the African continent is a land of exquisite beauty unique
in its incredible diversity. Richards Bay is a vibrant town offering spectacular
beaches and unspoilt natural scenery.
Richards Bay is one of the closest sea destinations from Gauteng and enjoys a summer climate all year round. The coastline stretches about three hundred and fifty kilometres from the mouth of the Tugela River in the south to the Mozambique border in the north.
Dolphin Viewing Platform
Situated at the end of the North Breakwater Pier at Alkantstrand Beach,
this specially erected platform allows visitors to view the Humpback dolphins
that frequent the Richards Bay coastline.
Deep Sea Fishing
Boat owners are able to launch their boats at the Richards Bay Ski Boat
Club and the Meerensee Boat Club. Visitors can also enjoy a day’s
fishing aboard the private fishing charters Harlekyn Deep Sea Charters.
Beaches
Alkantstrand and Newark Beaches are protected by lifeguards and shark
nets.
Facilities include: Picnic/braai sites, a super tube and putt-putt course,
a restaurant and kiosk.
Enseleni Nature Reserve
Situated 15 minutes’ drive from Richards Bay on the N2 towards Empangeni.
Entrance to the reserve is free and visitors are welcome to enjoy the
picnic / braai sites and self-guided nature walks.
The Nkonkoni Trail is 7 kilometres and the Mvubu Trail is 3 kilometres in length. A variety of small mammals and an abundance of bird life can be seen. A conference / activity centre is available to educational groups and other interested parties.
