The Elephant Hills is situated in the upmarket residential area of Meerensee, cradled between the Indian Ocean and Lake Mzingazi. Enjoy KwaZulu-Natal's superb sub-tropical climate in our luxurious guesthouse, well positioned for both businessman and leisure traveler. We celebrate the cultural heritage and diversity of KwaZulu-Natal's North Coast. All rooms are en-suite and fitted with air conditioning and heating.
Room service is on offer and full Continental breakfasts are served.

Our rooms range from Deluxe Rooms which are all fitted with queen-sized beds, bar fridges, coffee and tea facilities, 6 channel TV (selected DSTV) with all the modern creature comforts and finishes, to our Standard Rooms fitted with double beds, some with bar fridges and all with 6 channel TV (selected DSTV) with coffee and tea facilities.
We also offer Family Rooms which can be Deluxe or Standard. These rooms consist of two double beds. All our rooms are en-suite and fully air-conditioned. We offer bed and breakfast as well as bed only accommodation.
Our chef Absalom is always at the ready with a wooden spoon in hand and a smile on his face and once you’ve seen the Continental breakfast spread he lays out, you’ll be wanting to start your day full. Dinner is prepared daily by our chef, but reservations are essential. We cater for all special dietary requirements.
Mapelane Nature Reserve
Located 20 kilometres from Richards Bay, the Mapelane Nature
Reserve forms part of the Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park and is situated
on the south bank of the Umfolozi River where it enters the sea.
This reserve has a lot to offer, from walks through tropical forests and bush to an array of water activities such as ski boating, surf fishing, spear and deep-sea fishing, hunting for mussels, oysters and crayfish.
Nearly 200 bird species have been recorded in the reserve and plenty of forest creatures like small buck, monkeys, mongoose and red squirrels. Also on the estuary edge there are many hippos and crocodiles to be spotted.
Enseleni Nature Reserve
Located 30 kilometres from Richards Bay, this beautiful reserve consists
of forest and coastal grasslands close to the Nseleni river. There are
two trails to choose from – The Nkonkoni Trail which is about 7
kilometres long and the Mvubu Trail which is about 2 kilometres in length.
This reserve is host to a variety of large mammals and game, including giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, impala, reedbuck, waterbuck, bushbuck, bushpig, duikers, hippos and crocodiles.
Ongoye Nature Reserve – Mtunzini
Located 50 kilometres from Richards Bay, this 3900 hectare forest runs
from about 10 kilometres on a high ridge parallel to the ocean and is
about 4 kilometres wide. Home to some very rare fauna and flora and is
very abundant in fruit, boasting no less than 9 varieties of fig in the
forest. It is best to view this Reserve on foot.
