A comfortable 1 hour drive from Durban and 45 minutes from Pietermaritzburg, lying on both sides of the Mkomazi River, lies a 5000 hectare, malaria and predator free reserve; the perfect retreat from the pressures of the modern world.

Duma Manzi Eco Lodge Accommodation

Blending seamlessly into nature, all luxury rooms are perfectly situated in secluded privacy to compliment the inspirational location. Each luxury room has its own private deck overlooking the river, with mountain views.

It is from this deck that you can begin to savour the spectacle and spirit of this special place. Be lulled to sleep by the sound of the water over the boulders and stones and awake to the dawn chorus of the prolific bird life.

Fish Eagle Luxury Rooms:
Perfectly positioned with a breathtaking view of the mighty river and towering sandstone cliffs, where Fish Eagles are frequently spotted and their haunting calls echo through the valley. The four beautifully decorated, open-plan luxury rooms give guests total seclusion in relaxed intimate surroundings.

Sandstone Luxury Rooms:
The five luxuriously appointed rooms allow guests the full privilege of intimate tranquillity and luxury, with a relaxed African intimacy. Guests are able to settle into comfort and total privacy within secluded luxury rooms that are perfectly blended into the captivating beauty of the surrounding wilderness.

Elegantly decorated, the luxurious rooms each have their own private plunge pool and glass doors leading from the bedroom and bathroom onto a wooden deck overlooking the cascading river. The bed configurations in these rooms are either King or Twin beds.

Luxury Family Unit:
The family unit comprises two adjacent bedrooms, each with its own en- suite Victorian- African bathroom. The Unit has its own private garden and rock pool that the two bedrooms share, with entrance from glass sliding doors in each bedroom. Please note that the Rock Pool is not netted.

A romantic and elegant dining experience at Duma Manzi takes you on a journey of taste, which will enhance your world of senses. Duma Manzi prides itself on the fact that all ingredients used, are fresh and home made in the traditional South African and African styles.

Facilities

The main lodge is an experience reminiscent of a bygone era. Built on raised wooden platforms, with a spacious veranda, the lodge is luxuriously furnished in a classical Colonial African style.

It is where you’ll come to have sundowners on the bar deck overlooking the river, relax with a book on one of the comfy couches or sit around the fire in our slate boma chatting with fellow guests; all the while enjoying the genuine hospitality of our staff.
