The little forestry town of Sabie is situated on the Mpumalanga Drakensberg escarpment and is malaria free. From Sabie there are numerous sights to see and things to do, the most popular being the Panorama route.
The Panorama Route is an easy days outing from Sabie, the whole round trip is less than 200 kms and includes attractions such as Mac Mac Falls, The Pinnacle, Gods Window, Berlin and Lisbon falls, Bourke's Luck Potholes and the world famous Blyde River Canyon, where you can view the 3 Rondavels and then finish off your day with a visit to historical old mining town of Pilgrims Rest.

Other major attractions within a days drive include visiting the Kruger National Game Park which is only 50 kms away (have a early morning start with one of our picnic breakfasts), Long Tom pass, Kaapsehoop (famous for it's wild horses and blue swallows), Lowveld Botanical Gardens (cycads lovers will be impressed) and Sudwala Caves.
Don't forget to visit the 3 local waterfalls, Lone Creek, Bridal Veil and Horseshoe which are only a few kilometers away, these are very different from the other waterfalls in the area as you approach the waterfalls from the base of the fall.

For the more venturous there is Horse riding (1 hr to 2 days) Mountain bike rides, Abseiling, Bridge swings, River rafting and flights in helicopters, micro lights and hot air balloons.
For the not so adventurous there is Golf, walking trails, silk farms, swimming or a walk around the local curio shops.
Or just relax on your own verandah and read a good book or magazine.

For overseas visitors who are arriving at Johannesburg Airport, take the Boksburg Highway (R21) and then turn onto the N12 towards Witbank, this road then becomes the N4, continue on passed the Middleburg turnoff and after another 60kms take the R540 (R33) to Belfast, Dullstroom and Lydenburg.

If you are coming from Lydenburg over the "Long Tom Pass" road, as you come down the hill into Sabie, you'll see our Hillwatering sign. TURN LEFT. Follow the road for about 100 meters and then TURN RIGHT into Marula Street, (there is another Hillwatering sign post there).
Follow the road down the hill and around the corner for about 200 meters, you will then see a large beige coloured house on your left, 50, Marula Street, this is Hillwatering. (It has a sign outside).

PS. If you miss the first turning, continue down the hill and take your next LEFT TURN, Hillwatering is also sign posted from there as well.

If you are coming from another direction (i.e. Hazyview, Graskop etc) then you will have to drive through Sabie and take the R532 road to Lydenburg.
As you leave the town you will go through a 3 - way STOP street, after this, follow the Lydenburg Road for about 1 kilometer, passing on your right a Caltex garage and the golf course, take the SECOND TURN to your RIGHT (Hillwatering is signposted from here), this crosses a small bridge, about 50 meters further on TURN RIGHT at the T junction, follow the road up the hill until you come to a 3-way STOP street, TURN LEFT into Marula Street and No 50 is about 200 meters further on, on the right.
Sabie is approx a 4-hour drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria.
