Welcome to Sani Lodge BackpackersSani Lodge provides a wide range of accommodation deep in the majestic Southern Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa, bordering directly onto the World Heritage listed uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park. Situated at the foot of the Sani Pass, the Gateway to the mountain Kingdom of Lesotho, Sani Lodge is a peaceful country haven with a laid back atmosphere, where guests can simply kick off their shoes and wholly unwind. |

Relax at “One of the Best Backpackers away from the big towns in South Africa" ( SA Handbook), breathe in pure mountain air and drink mountain spring water, take a dip in our new swimming pool, soak up sunshine next to invigorating mountain pools only half an hour hike away.
Retire to the sunny reading nook, enjoy sundowners on our new wooden deck verandah facing the awesome mountain range bordering onto Lesotho, socialise around the new braai facility and in winter, curl up in front of a log fire in the cosy common room.
Food and Crafts
Sani Lodge is home to the Giant's Cup Café well known for wholesome
home-made goodness.
The Giants Cup Cafe, Restaurant and Farm Stall is on-site, a mere 50 meters
from Sani Lodge Backpackers, providing all meals, teas and cakes.
A curio shop/farm stall is part of the set up and there is also free Wi-Fi Internet access with your order of a meal or a toasted sandwich or pancake. Dinner is available 7 days a week. As devotees of the great John Seymour’s philosophy of self sufficiency as laid out in his classic book “The Complete Guide to Self-sufficiency”.
We aim to provide home cooked meals with the use of as many home produced products as possible. We aim to use the best ingredients if we do not produce them ourselves. Whilst Sani Lodge does have a fully equipped self catering kitchen, why not enjoy meals at The Giants Cup!
