Welcome to Desert Rose Guest House and Self Catering.
Desert Rose is an up-market Guest House, situated in the heart of
Namaqualand, Springbok, offering superb B&B and self catering
accommodation at reasonable rates.
The guest house was built by the owners Piet and Maralynn van Zyl
in 2004, who took the necessary steps to ensure that you, their
guest, have all the amenities available to make your stay as comfortable
and enjoyable as possible.
Situated in a quiet residential area, overlooking the town of Springbok,
Desert Rose is a central place to stay during the flower season
from July to September. . |

Desert Rose Guest House Accommodation
Self Catering:
We offer two well-equipped self-catering units. These units can sleep
four persons. The units consist of one bedroom (double bed plus one single
bed), with an en suite shower and the living area. The living area comprises
of a fully equipped kitchenette, eating nook and sitting area. The couch
is a sleeper couch which can be used as an additional double bed at night.
Each unit has its own private entrance, TV with SABC TV channels, large
bar fridge, micro wave oven and for the braai enthusiast, your own undercover
braai area. These units are very spacious, ideal for up to four persons.
Guest Rooms:
We offer six spacious double rooms, all of which are en-suite with both
bath and shower. You would enjoy complete privacy since our units have
their own private entrances and secure off-street parking.
A comfortable veranda runs along the length of the units and rooms (front
and back).
This is an ideal place to sit back, relax and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee/sun
downer/smoke break while appreciating the spectacular views of our surrounding
granite hills.
In-room:
Coffee and tea facilities are available in the rooms. Additionally each
room has a TV with M-net channels, air-conditioning and bar fridge.
For the business person:
For the business person (and internet junkie!) there is ADSL wireless
internet connection in all rooms. The units provide enough work space,
power points and good lighting.

Breakfast:
Breakfast is served in the dining room in the main house. This can either
be a wholesome full farmhouse or a continental. Breakfast menu varies
day to day.
Fresh fruit is always available. Vegetarians are catered for! Also available
are packed/take away breakfasts to enjoy "on the go".
Other meals:
The communal lapa is available for a barbecue. First come basis. The self
catering units have private, undercover braai facilities as well as a
fully equipped kitchen. Restaurants are just a few minutes away for other
meals.
Safety and security:
All vehicles are accommodated on-site with secure parking and remote access.
Things to do around Desert Rose, Springbok:
Springbok is the main centre of the Namaqualand, located approximately
600 km’s north of Cape Town and 120 km’s south of the Namibian
border. It lies directly at the N7, which links Cape Town and Windhoek
(Namibia) and is the ideal place for an overnight stop.
There are only small settlements further north with few facilities, whereas
Springbok offers excellent hotels, guest houses, caravan parks, restaurants,
supermarkets, service stations and even an airport.
Springbok is also the perfect stop-over for a trip to the Richtersveld
National Park. river rafting on the Orange River, 4 X 4 trails, shipwreck
visits, Mission station in Pella, Augrabies Waterfall, Fish River Canyon,
just to mention a few. See the details below for activities closer to
Springbok.
Springbok is usually very crowded during the wildflower season in August
and September. Advanced booking of accommodation is essential then.
With so many interesting things to do around Springbok, you can use Desert
Roses Guest House and Self Catering Accommodation as your base while exploring
the surrounding areas.
Nababeep:
Nababeep is situated 17 km north of Springbok.
Goegap Nature Reserve:
Small nature reserve, on the road to the airport, some 15 kilometres out
of town. Here one can get a good idea of Namaqualand's fascinating flora.
More than 300 species, among them numerous succulents, can be seen here.
Namaqua National Park:
Namaqua National Park boasts with a kaleidoscope of indigenous flora species
every spring time and this is a big reason that people are drawn to the
area.
We are also within walking distance to restaurants, shops and banks.
Enjoy a braai (BBQ) in our lapa and drink in the sheer beauty of being
out in the countryside.
Spectacular views of surrounding granite "koppies" and the picturesque
town are available to you from the privacy your room.

Entrance from N7 Cape Town (South)
Take the first turnoff into Springbok, the road through Springbok becomes
Voortrekker Road. Continue straight through town past the Shoprite and
Spar Supermarket. At the Engine Garage on your right, drive under the
N7 bridge, take first turn left into President and immediately left again
into Republiek Street. Desert Rose Guest house is number 40.
