Springbok is the ideal stop-over, as it offers easy driving to Upington, Cape Town, the West Coast, the Richtersveld and Namibia.

Get to know Namaqualand with a visit to the Springbok Lodge & Restaurant – the only one stop accommodation service in Namaqualand.

The Springbok Lodge & Restaurant is a family business, operated since 1947 when it was known as the Springbok Café and Private Hotel.

Today the main building houses the reception of the lodge, the restaurant, a café and curio shop.

The main building also boasts very interesting displays of mineral specimens, a photographic exhibition on the Richtersveld and historic Namaqualand as well as paintings by South African artists such as Sima Eliovson, Johan van Niekerk and Barbara Jeppe.

Springbok Lodge and Restaurant Accommodation

The lodge offers a wide range of accommodation for up to 200 people. Accommodation is in different buildings within walking distance from reception and the restaurant. The names of the different houses reflect their history, e.g. Huis Kallie Fischer, Die Stoor & Die Ankerhuis.

Accommodation is offered in single and double rooms, family units & self-catering units.

Rooms:
Basic single or double rooms are all en suite (bath or shower) with TV, kettle, ceiling fans and bedding and towels.

Also available are single or double rooms with the same basic facilities as well as fridge and air-conditioning.

Family units:
Units consist of two inter leading bedrooms with a bathroom (bath or shower). Units sleep 3 to 5 people. Basic facilities include TV, kettle, fridge, ceiling fan, bedding and towels.

Self-catering units:
These units consist of two inter leading bedrooms with bathroom (bath or shower) and kitchen. All basic facilities as well as an equipped kitchen and braai area. The kitchen is equipped with a kettle, fridge, electrical two-plate stove, microwave oven, toaster, basic cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.

All accommodation is serviced on a daily basis. Laundry service can be arranged at reception

Restaurant:
The family restaurant has an a la carte menu and is fully licensed. We offer meals from 7:00 am (8:00 am on Sundays) to 10:00 pm. The menu has a wide range of meals to choose from, including steaks, fish, pizzas and burgers. Try our famous chips and milkshakes or Jopie's holy water.

The restaurant is divided into a smoking and non-smoking section.

Curios and Mineral Collection:
The curio shop is located in the main building and is open from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm.
The curio shop offers a wide range of interesting gifts, such as:
•jewellery, including semi-precious stone necklaces and earrings
•jewellery boxes made from soap stone and bone
•books
•maps
•mementoes such as fridge magnets and key rings
•colour postcards on Namaqualand, Namibia, and South Africa
•rose quartz lamps
•stickers of the Richtersveld, Namaqualand, etc.
•tumbled stones

A collection of mineral specimens is on permanent display in the main building. The minerals was collected over 37 years by the owner of the business.
On display are fascinating stones from all over the world, including amethyst geodes, opals and crystals from the Jan Coetzee mine.

How to get to the lodge:
As you enter the town of Springbok from Cape Town or Upington through Voortrekker street, continue until you reach the small rocky outcrop in the middle of town. Our main building is a double storey building with large red lettering reading Springbok Lodge, situated opposite the street from the small hill.
