Milkwood Country Cottage Accommodation

Our five rooms are individually decorated and all en-suite, to meet the various needs of all our guests. Each of the five bedrooms have a private entrance, equipped with colour TV, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and affords views onto the picturesque golf course.

The Plettenberg Bay Golf Club is one of the golf courses ideally located for holidaymakers that flock to the coast to relax, unwind and suntan on the beaches whilst enjoying the luxury hotels in the area.

Golf (literally on our doorstep) – 5 paces takes you onto the 15th fairway – to the wide range of water sports, horse riding, hiking and cycling to more relaxing pastimes like lazing at the pool, sunbathing or walking on our pristine beaches – you’ll never run out of things to do.

Within 3 – 5 minutes you can walk to the club house, the beach, shops, restaurants and coffee shops.

St Francis Bay together with Milkwood Country Cottage offers the fortunate few a delightful escape from the pressures of daily life.
Here among the graceful thatch roof homes next to the waters edge, is a haven of peace and tranquility. Once this lifestyle has been experienced, it becomes a precious memory to cherish again and again.

The Plettenberg Bay golf course is set in a proclaimed nature reserve - generously wide kikuyu fairways wind themselves through thick vegetation and beautiful trees.
The course is also rich in birdlife, including loeries and woodpeckers. One sometimes sees the odd monkey, giving new meaning to keeping your eye on the ball.

St Francis Bay Golf Course: Lyme Road South, St Francis Bay, Eastern Cape: St Francis Bay Golf Club is situated in the village of St Francis Bay on the warm Indian Ocean coastline of the Eastern Cape in South Africa.

The magnificent up-market village at St Francis Bay is a symphony of charming white-walled homes, thatch roofs and intricate tidal canals.
Then there is the exclusive Otter's Landing with its sweeping custom-built Tuscan architecture, and alongside, Santereme sporting the crisp and clean lines of Mediterranean style homes. These varied architectural styles combine to make St Francis as unique as it is attractive.

Rediscover healthy outdoor living in excellent company. There are walks and trails, acres of fynbos and in early summer wild flowers carpet a large expanse with purples, yellows and whites. With its sheltered waters in the river and the bay, water sports are very popular in St Francis Bay.

The Kromme River, some days like a living mirror, sometimes resembling a strong sea, is navigable for 8 kilometers and is the favourite of many a fisherman and sailing enthusiast.

The beaches epitomize perfection - the whitest, cleanest stretches of sand on the South African coastline. St Francis Bay is home to Bruce's Beauties, one of the worlds best known surf breaks, featured in the 60's cult film Endless Summer.
Those fortunate to enough to stay in St Francis will testify to the extraordinary sunsets and equally invigorating sunrises. It is this harmony with nature that makes St Francis extra special.

St Francis Bay is truly a paradise for water-sport enthusiasts. Windsurfing, water skiing, snorkeling, swimming, sunbathing, exploring the canals by canoe and diving are only a few of the activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Emphasis is on outdoor life, with the bracing sea air, sunshine and un-spoilt surroundings.
Fishing in the deep sea, the river, the surf and the rocks are all exciting possibilities with bait being plentiful while the waters teem with many "good eating" and game fish.

For land-based activities there's the Golf Course, which is considered to be the closest to a Scottish links to be found anywhere in South Africa.
One can take a leisurely horseback ride along the pristine white beaches of the bay, or through the hills colorfully clothed in rare Cape coastal fynbos.
There are active bowls, squash and tennis clubs, you'll never run out of opportunities to enjoy St Francis.

St Francis also plays host to some of the most fun filled festivals including the Easter Affair, the popular Calamari Festival during late September and the Port St Francis Triathlon in December.

Eastern Cape Game Farms:
Our game reserve's location in the Eastern Cape means it is not only malaria free, but spans 5 ecosystems (valley bushveld, savannah grassland, fynbos, riverine forest and acacia woodland), resulting in a breath-taking diversity of flora and fauna.

Schotia Safaris:
Schotia Safaris is the oldest private game viewing reserve in the Eastern Cape, bordering on the eastern side of the Addo Elephant National Park.
This Malaria Free reserve is abundant with over 15 antelope species, several smaller African animals, such as warthog, monkeys, genets, etc. and other larger African animals such as Hippo, Giraffe and Rhino. Schotia was the first reserve in the Cape Province to have free roaming lions and has a healthy pride of hunting lions

Pumba Private Game Reserve:
Pumba Private Game Reserve is situated in the Malari Free Eastern Cape and is a mere hours drive from Port Elizabeth and 15 minutes from Grahamstown, while the Gary Player design Golf Course at Alicedale is only 30km away.
Covering about 6 000 hectares of land, Pumba Private Game Reserve is home to Africa’s Big Five and offers visitors the chance to experience the wonders of Africa –from the graceful Giraffe to seldom seen Leopard, 22 species of Antelope and other small game.
The 200 plush species of Bird will delight bird lovers.

Addo Elephant Park:
Deep within the shadows of the dense valley bushveld of the Sundays River region of the Eastern Cape lies the Addo Elephant National Park. Here, the evenings are punctuated by the strident howl of the black-backed jackal, and the francolin's call heralds each new dawn.
Safe from relentless persecution in the past, the grey leviathans of the bush now roam in peace.
Some of its unique features include: Unrivalled natural diversity, with five of South Africa's seven major vegetation zones (biomes) the Big 7 (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, whales and great white sharks) in their natural habitat the future proclamation of a 120 000 hectare (296 500 acre) marine protected area that includes islands that are home to the world's largest breeding colonies of Cape gannets and African penguins.

Port Elizabeth and Surrounds Bayworld:
The Oceanarium in its present form was constructed over a period of 10 years, the first phase of which was the 900 000 litre main fish tank which was built in 1959.
After housing dolphins for a number of years, the pool was re-established as a fish tank in 1968 when the new dolphin lake was completed and is now home to a wide variety of large fish, sharks and turtles.
Alongside it is the smaller tropical tank where a variety of tropical fish and sea turtles found alongside the East coast are displayed. Seaview Lion Park

The SEAVIEW GAME & LION PARK :
(est. 1975) is located on the Eastern Cape’s sunshine Coast, 25 km’s west of Port Elizabeth’s city centre. Set in 120 hectares of superb bush and grassland, the Park offers the unique experience of close-up Game-viewing.
The Park boasts in excess of forty species of wildlife. Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Duiker and Monkeys roam free. Crocodile, Rock Monitors, Meerkat , Genets, Jackals, and Caracal (Lynx), are housed in camps and enclosures in the sanctuary areas. They are released into freedom if possible.

Baviaans Kloof:
The Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area lies approximately 120 km. West of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa and comprises of approximately 270 000 ha. of unspoiled, rugged mountainous terrain. Starting in the East at Komdomo, the road leads through the rugged beauty of the "Grootrivier" Gorge on its winding path through this pristine conservancy, all the way towards Willowmore in the West.
A total distance of about 203 km. The area offers a wide range of eco-recreational opportunities as well as an unique wilderness experience!

Storms River:
The Tsitsikamma National Park which includes the Storms River mouth is internationally recognised for its forests which harbour and conserve the giant Outeniqua Yellowwood tree – one of the few true monarchs of the world's forests.
This enormous tree is one of the most successful species in existence, having survived, unchanged for millions of years.
If only passing through make sure you take a moment to stop at the bridge over the Storms River for magnificent views up and down the gorge.
Even better head for the Storms River Mouth entrance to the Tsitsikamma National Park, where a number of short walking trails, one with a wonderfully wobbly suspension bridge, give you superb experiences of coast and forest. The park is more commonly known for its ‘Otter Trail’, a strenuous five-day hike up and down ravines and gorges and along cliff edges, which is often booked up a year ahead.
