Things to do:
On a rainy day:
There is no need to frown upon a rainy day, because there is more than
enough to do and see in town.
Make a trip to a few museums, wander through some art galleries and enjoy
a delightful cup of coffee in one of the many street café’s.
If rainy weather put you in the mood to stay in, we suggest making paper
planes or hand puppets to entertain you for the day. You are more than
welcome to ask the staff at Reception for some useful tips on places to
visit.
When feeling adventurous:
If adrenaline is your best fix then Stellenbosch will not disappoint.
From mountain biking and moonlight hikes on Delvera Wine Estate to hiking
trails in the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve and climbing the Simonsberg Mountain
– Stellenbosch has it all!
If you can not bring your own bicycle, you can rent one from Piet se Fiets
just down the road.
On a Sunday:
What a life we have on Sundays in the Winelands. Everyone is on a slow-go
and is this a day to enjoy the leisure lifestyle of the people of Stellenbosch.
There are a number of wine farms and restaurants open as well as shops
and museums. Enquire at Reception for a list of Sunday activities and
choice of restaurants and wine farms.
For Art lovers:
Stellenbosch has long been known as a sanctuary of some of South Africa’s
top artist. The Rupert Family, known for their love of art and vast collection
of it, has created the Rupert Museum to showcase some of South Africa’s
best works of art. Visit Porchie at his gallery in Church Street, meander
your way through the countless number of smaller galleries around town,
visit Delaire Graff Wine Estate and see the Graff Family Collection. Come
and talk to us at Reception about any more options for visits to galleries
and/or art exhibitions in town and surrounds.
Stellenbosch lies near the head of the Eerste River Valley and is the
most beautiful town in South Africa, just ask any local or better yet
- come see for yourself!
The valley produces the grapes for some of the world's finest wines. Stellenbosch
is in the heart of this fertile farming area which produces some of the
best wines in the world. Stellenbosch is also the home of the world renowned...
About Us:
The Taylors
René and Hendri Taylor first came to Stellenbosch as students,
fell in love with The Town of Oaks and never left again. Hendri is an
entrepreneur at heart and established businessman. He convinced Renè
to join the world of Self-employment. On 1 April 2000 they took over Rusthuiz
Guest House, which at the time has been an operating Guest House for two
years.
Then came the life-altering moment in October 2002 when their daughter,
Cara, was born. What joy she brought to her parents. January 2005 was
yet another momentous occasion when their son, Julian, was born. Now Rusthuiz
is a buzz with the kids filling the house with laughter.
Recently Nina, the adorable Beagle, joined the family. Nina must be the
world’s friendliest dog and will forever stay a puppy at heart.
Stellenbosch has been their home for more than two decades and is there
no place this energetic family would rather live.
