ACTIVITIES & ATTRACTIONS:
George offers from "Wine, Dine and Dance" restaurants
to the good old "Home cooking" type. George has one of the finest
golf courses in the Cape, also a bowling green, tennis courts and other
sporting facilities.
Victoria Bay is one of the most famous beaches in the vicinity for safe
bathing and is ideal for angling and a challenge to top surfers. There
are also natural paddling pools amongst the rocks where children can spend
many happy hours playing. Young and old can splash about or quietly observe
the little fish in the tidal pools.
The warm waters of the beach lakes at Wilderness are but a few kilometres
away. Drives along the coastal roads reveal the natural beauty of the
mountains and forests, the seashore with clean sandy beaches, and the
colourful flora, hence the name "Garden Route".
Places of interest include the world famous Cango Caves
near Oudtshoorn and whilst in the vicinity, visit the ostrich farms and
experience the thrill of a ride on the back of an ostrich.
Not to be overlooked, the crocodile farm. These scaly
creatures are really awesome. This farm also has a variety of other interesting
features, including a snake park.
There are opportunities for horse riding and hikes
where the display of flora, being so much more noticeable, can be greatly
admired.
