Nikki Walters welcomes you to Acorn Cottages,
in the heart of the Champagne Valley, Central Drakensberg. Look up at the imposing Drakensberg Mountains of Champagne and
Cathkin, with nearby access to the Peaks of Cathedral peak, the
majestic Amphitheatre at Royal Natal National Park and Giants Castle.
All these areas are waiting for you to explore and each area differs
totally. |

Acorn Cottages Accommodation
Rose Cottage
A really romantic cottage, used for honeymoons and romantic holidays.
It stands on its own with a roses all around and is private.There are
oregan prune sach windows and door, and it is well and comfortably equipped.
Stunning views of the Drakensberg Mountains from the verandah and braai
area off the verandah, it has one bedroom and seperate bathroom with corner
bath, seperate shower and toilet. Full catering facilities are provided
with a four plate gas stove and oven, microwave, fridge. There is a large
fireplace in the lounge and DSTV limited programmes. Suitable for couples
with perhaps a child on a sleeper couch in the lounge.

Gallery Suite
Its an upstairs unit suitable for couples, or two single people, The main
attraction is he size and the magnificent views from every window, but
particularly from the verandah. There is a fireplace which warms the entire
room fast and a heater in the bathroom, and two ceiling fans for the summer
months. DSTV with limited programmes is provided and a CD player. Suitable
for two people but an extra bed can be added. Either self cater or Bed
and Breakfast is offered.

Garden Suite
A very attractive suite with one open plan room, with a queen size bed,
TV with some DStv channels available, a gas heater, full bathroom. It
opens out onto its own garden with braai area, and has a small kitchenette,
with A two plate stove and microwave, bar fridge, toaster and kettle.
Suitable for couples only, and either self cater or Bed and breakfast
is offered.

Bed and breakfast Rooms
Each of our bed and breakfast rooms open up onto the front verandah and
have views overlooking the rock pool and mountains. Either single beds
or queen size beds are offered. Each has full en-suite bathrooms. A tea
and coffee tray is provided and a bar fridge with some drinks, as we are
licensed. Each room has a fireplace for cold winters, and bathroom heaters,
and ceiling fans with remote control for summers. TV is provided, with
limited DSTV programmes.

Nearby Activities And Attractions
Sports
All sports – horse riding, golf, bowls, fly fishing, cycling, hiking,
white water rafting, quad biking, etc, are available within a short drive
from Acorn Cottages.
Bird Watching
Other guests include Bald Ibis, Sacred Ibis, Glossy Ibis, Ha Ha dedas,
raptors abound and owls tap-dance on your roof at night. Our newly established
birders route provides Birders with Montaine, Grassland, Riverene and
Wetland birding habitats. Even Lbj’s are found in numbers
Hikes
Mountain hikes include guided hikes of the “Big Five” mountain
trails including Sterk Horn, Amphlett, Champagne Castle, Gatberg and Injasuthi
and Matterhorn. You can be rewarded by experiencing “San”
Rock paintings in caves on route. Many of these are day trips from the
Central Drakensberg. ACORN cottages are often used as “base camps”
for those in training for Kilamanjero, Mount Kenya and who knows –
Nepal? Mountain Biking and many other Adventure Sports are within easy
reach
