Blandford Forum is an English market town, rich in history. The town is located on the River Stour in the northern part of Dorset. This market town has a number of historical buildings and there is a lot of architecture that dates back to the Georgian times. The town of Blandford Forum has a population of about eight thousand seven hundred and forty five. The town is within the district council of North Dorset. There are some small village nearby that includes Blandford St Mary and also the military base, Blandford Camp. There is a Georgian Fayre held every year on the first week of May. The fayre is held in the centre of the town and it attracts thousands of visitors. The fayre combines traditional Georgian celebrations, cultural presentations and stalls with a modern fun fair. The nearby village, Tarrant Hinton is home to the Steam Fair of Great Dorset and this event attracts about two hundred and fifty thousand visitors. The fair is held every year on the last week of August. The fair acts as a showcase for a wide range of steam engines that come to the event from all across the United Kingdom and there are also a vast number that come from Europe. At the fair there is also a vast array of stalls, camping facilities and the general feeling of a mass carnival.
