Facilities at Elephant Plains Lodge

The African Health Spa is just the place to go if you have the need to relax and unwind, or just feel like spoiling yourself.
A wide variety of treatments are available to rejuvenate mind, body and soul while enjoying an awe inspiring view of the plain in front of the lodge.
It is that time of year again where sunny and warm days are spent next to the pool. A golden tan looks healthy but it is important to know the dangers of sun exposure and to protect ourselves against the harmful effects of the sun as the sun is one of the main causes of skin ageing.

Daily programme at the Elephant Plains Game Lodge:
At Elephant Plains Game Lodge you can be sure of an experience that will live up to the Africa of your imagination, creating a lifetime of memories!
- Game Drive
Your experienced game ranger and local Shangaan tracker are keen to share their extensive knowledge and love of the African bush with you. There are two game drives per day in open top Landrovers. Each drive lasts about three hours with an intermediate break.

During the morning game drive break you will enjoy coffee and rusks and in the afternoon your ranger will find a suitable spot where you can enjoy the stunning views, while enjoying a sundowner.
After sundowners your tracker will use the spotlight to find nocturnal animals before returning to the lodge for dinner.
Your ranger will discuss the various game drive regulations before you leave camp. During game drive you will note that the rangers sometimes drive off of the road and into the bush. We do, however, work in accordance to guidelines set out by Sabi Sand ecologist, Jonathan Swart.
We only allow off-roading in certain areas and with special precautions. The rangers do not drive over sensitive areas, will only drive over small trees if they are encroachment species and if necessary, they will do brush packing afterwards to limit the impact on the environment.

- Bush Walk
During bush walk you will have the opportunity to take a closer look at animal tracks, birds, different types of grasses and trees, as well as any smaller details of the bush that might fascinate you.

The daily bush walk takes place after breakfast. Your ranger will confirm the time with you during breakfast. Please take note that you will be accompanied by either your ranger or tracker.

Please take note of the following:
Guests are not allowed to leave the camp and walk alone. For safety reasons, we unfortunately do not allow children aged 16 and under, to go on the bush walk. Should you wish, we could organize a ranger or tracker to take the children on a mini bush walk inside the camp area.
Guests over the age of 60 would be required to provide a medical certificate stating that they are in good health and fit to go on a bush walk. Please also ensure that you bring closed shoes, neutral coloured clothing, a hat, sunscreen as well as insect repellent.
The ranger/tracker will use their discretion concerning anything that could pose a threat or jeopardise the safety of guests, these include the degree of fitness, agility and physical restrictions. (As stipulated by FGASA - Field Guides Association of SA)
You are welcome to still go on the bush walk on the day of your departure. We would, however, appreciate it if you could vacate your room beforehand, or make sure that your room is vacated by 11H00.

Join us for a night under African Skies:
What better place to gaze at the stars than in the middle of the bush, far away from the big city lights!
Our rangers completed a star gazing course through Cosmic Safari. We use an 8 Inch Orion Intelli Teloscope.
View constellations such as The Southern Cross and The Scorpion and find out interesting facts about nebulas and clusters.
