The cottages
Converted from a former barn in 2005, and split into two, themselves catering
holiday cottages “Cornlee” and “Mallabay” provide
superb (STB 4 star) accommodation with uninterrupted views over local
hills and fantastic sunsets. They have been equipped to a very high standard
with quality fitments. Both cottages are south-west facing with ample
parking, a private patio and garden area. On site they have their own
free range hens , two horses to be petted and Tara the ball mad dog. The
cottages sit at the end of a short private drive off a quiet country road.
Mallabay cottage
The smaller of the holiday cottages, Mallabay sleeps two and was designed
with couples in mind. French windows lead into an open plan lounge, kitchen
and dining area. The lounge has a flat screen TV with digital freeview,
DVD and cd/radio player. The kitchen is well equipped with electric cooker,
microwave, washing machine and fridge with freezer compartment. Stable
door leading to rear patio and scenic views.The open staircase leads up
to a galleried master double bedroom (complete with flat screen TV) and
en-suite shower room with electric shower. Electric heating throughout.
Outside there is a private patio area with garden furniture and small
lawned garden with uninterrupted views over the hills As the cottage faces
South west the patio is a real sun trap with wonderful sunsets.
Cornlee cottage
Named after the hill it overlooks, Cornlee holiday cottage provides superb
open plan accommodation for five. Huge French windows lead into a very
light, open plan kitchen, dining, living room and extra downstairs shower
room/w.c. The lounge has a widescreen TV with digital freeview, DVD and
cd/radio player. The kitchen has an electric oven, microwave, fridge and
freezer
A turning galleried staircase leads upstairs to one double bedroom, one
twin room, a single room and a house bathroom. Cornlee is heated by oil
fired central heating and has an electric stove.

Getting there from the Information Center
Turn right along the Whitesands to traffic lights. Turn left at the lights
and then right at the next lights into Glasgow Street. Continue straight
on through two roundabouts. At the third roundabout turn left onto the
A75 to Stranraer. Continue on the A75 for about 5 miles and turn right
to Shawhead. At Shawhead village turn right then first left following
the signs for Barnsoul Campsite. We are located 2 miles from the village,
the third property on the left after the campsite.
Getting There by Car
North
Follow M74 southbound to Junction 14 following the signs for
A702 to Thornhill. At the end of the A702 at Caronbridge turn left onto
the A76. Continue south on the A76 for about 8.5 miles and turn right
when sign-posted Irongray. Continue straight through two cross roads and
then at the next T-junction turn right. Irongray Church is on the right
hand side. After about a mile turn left immediately after the bridge sing-posted
Shawhead. We are the third property on the right
South
following signs for Stranraer. Continue on the A75 for about 5 miles and
turn right to Shawhead. At SHawhead village turn right then first left
following the signs for Barnsoul Campsite. We are located 2 miles from
the village, the third property on the left after the campsite.
