The
Woodland House Hotel is situated in Newbridge village on the outskirts
of Dumfries in the south west of Scotland, and is an ideal base to give
easy access to many areas of interest including golf, fishing, nature
watching, historic buildings and for touring the area to enjoy the wonderful
scenery throughout the Dumfries area and Bonnie Galloway. It is set in
17 acres of wooded ground and gardens, ideal for hotel guests to stroll
around and relax.
Built as a private residence in 1841, the main building was designed by local architect Walter Newall in the neo-classical style. He gained widespread recognition for his work on grand houses and churches throughout the area. Bowed windows and doors were a mark of his style and Woodland House is a fine example of his work.
The house was converted into a hotel in the early 1960s and has continued in this role ever since. The hotel is now a private family operated business, totally devoted to providing a very friendly and high standard of service to all past and future customers.
The Woodland House Hotel is an ideal venue for all types of functions, meetings and seminars, as well as being an excellent setting for wedding receptions. Bar meals are served daily and all bedrooms have en-suite facilities. Ample car-parking is available to the front and rear of the building and we can easily cater for Touring Coach Parties.

Getting there from the Information Center
From Dumfries Tourist Information Center, turn right out of car park.
At traffic lights turn left over river, then first right, carry on following
A76 Kilmarnock. At the outskirts of town look for signs to left at Newbridge.
Getting There by Railway
From Dumfries Station, take a taxi, 2 miles.
Getting there by Aeroplane
From Glasgow Airport take M8 City Center, then M73 Carlisle, then M74
Carlisle, then A701 Dumfries. In Dumfries follow A75 Stranraer. At first
roundabout take A76 Kilmarnock, travel 1.2 miles, turnleft at Newbridge
and follow signs.
Getting There by Ferry
From Stranraer take A75 to Dumfries, in Dumfries take A76 Kilmarnock for
1.2 miles. Turn left at Newbirdge and follow signs.
