Morrungulo Beach Lodges & Resorts
Morrungulo is a resort with a stretch of coastline hemmed by
palms and casuarina trees. It has great beaches, snorkelling, swimming
and excellent big game fishing.
Morrungulo has the best bakery in Mozambique. It is run by a charming
couple who advertise their speciality - 'fresh bread' - on a massive
sign in more than 20 different languages. The Zambia Reef in Morrungulo
is known for its outstanding hard and soft corals.
Morrungulo Resort has thatched cassitas on the beach that offer
shelter and electricity and provide the limited luxury of camping
without canvas.
Furthermore, Morrungulo's self-catering reed and thatch chalets
are excellent Robinson-Crusoe type breakaways. It has a well-established
dive centre and chalet complex catering for groups.

Morrungulo is situated 560 km north of Maputo. Massinga is the
closest town, approximately 20kms away where most basic supplies
can be bought.
Petrol is available and telephone calls can be made from the post
office. Inhambane is 100Km south and Vilanculos is about 200 kms
further north.
Pomene which is a further 40km north and is a prime location for
fishing with an abundance of marlin, king fish, king mackerel, and
sail fish.
It is said that “finally, here is a place where the fish are
as big as your stories”. |

Situated about 150kms south of Vilanculos is the Morrungulo district
with beautiful beaches stretching as far as the eye can see. Access from
the main EN1 is an easy 20km drive on gravel roads (high clearance vehicle
advised).
