Knysna is a natural paradise of lush, indigenous
forests, tranquil lakes and golden beaches. Nestled on the
banks of a breathtaking lagoon. Beaches, lakes, mountains
and rivers provide endless opportunity for leisure and outdoor
adventure. Within the town, craft shops, flea-markets and
cosy cafés beckon with small-town charm and hospitality.
The area around Knysna is a veritable Garden of Eden. This
is home of the only forest elephant in South Africa, the rare
Pansy Shell, the brilliantly coloured, and elusive, Knysna
Loerie, a plethora of waterfowl and forest birds, dolphins
and visiting whales.

Plettneberg Bay

Built on the hillside, most of Plattenberg
is on a steep slope leading down to the sea, granting spectacular
views of the bay and surrounding hills and mountains. Plettenberg
Bay has gained somewhat of a reputation as a pleasure seeker
hotspot and it’s no wonder, with miles of pristine beaches

Vleesbaai
(or Vlees Bay)

This pretty little seaside village is an
idyllic, shell sampling, sun-drenched beach-filled holiday
place with endless beaches, safe swimming, leisurely walks,
dolphin and whale spotting. Vleesbaai is said by surfers as
one of the best kept secrets on the coast and, whilst gentle
swells provide great body boarding times, waves can reach
five feet.

Dana Bay

Ladismith lies in the shadow of the Towerkop
Mountain peak in the Karoo. Essentially a prosperous farming
community producing fruit (grapes, apricots, and plums), milk,
wine, flowers and mutton, two cheese factories and the Ladismith
Wine Cellar is open for cellar tours and wine tasting during
the week. With a unique style of architecture which evolved
from the hotchpotch mixture of several styles including Victorian,
Neo-gothic, Edwardian, Cape Dutch Revival, Regency and Rural.

Calitzdorp
Klein Karoo

Calitzdorp is probably most well known for
its production of some of the South Africas best port wines,
but it has more that just fine port, take a stroll down Queen
Street, one of the oldest streets in town to absorb the number
of Edwardian and Victorian, and Karoo style buildings heavily
influenced by English architecture. The Klein Karoo are is
a gorgeous part of the Cape Floral Kingdom and functions as
a mini desert - sparse, dry and arid countryside interjected
by fertile valleys, through which mountain streams meander
to provide water for the fruit grown in the area.

Prince Albert
Klein Karoo

Prince Albert is the perfect base for exploring
the wonders of the Swartberg including Gamkaskloof (The Hell)
and Meiringspoort and just 2 kms from the foot of the Swartberg
Pass. Hiking, mountain biking, birding and botanical excursions
are major attractions throw in a superb climate a high sunshine
index and spectacular night skies. The village itself is has
beautifully preserved Cape Dutch, Karoo and Victorian buildings
19 of which are National Monuments. Prince Albert is known
for its sun-ripened fresh and dried fruit, especially figs
and apricots. Karoo lamb, olives, olive oil and homemade cheeses
are local delicacies.

The Garden Route
From Mossel Bay
to the mighty Storms River, the Garden route is the verdant
region along the N2 national highway linking Cape
Town and Port
Elizabeth as it meanders through Knysna,
Plettenberg Bay, Sedgefield and Wilderness.
Hop onto the Outeniqua Tjoe-Choo at George
with a picnic breakfast and watch the world go by as you're transported
over wetlands, through forests and along the breathtaking coastline by
one of the last passenger steam trains in use. Arriving in Knysna you
will be just in time for a walkabout of the towns inviting craft and flea
markets before lunch at one of the many deli's or exclusive restaurants.

survived unchanged for millions of years. The hiking trails and walks
in this area are legendary, with the famous Otter Trail being booked out
years in advance. For the less energetic, there are more sedate ways of
enjoying the natural beauty of the area with camp sites, guest houses
