Ylang Ylang HotelNosy Be Madagascar
You will receive a warm welcome from the staff. The hotel takes it's name from the local L'Ylang Ylang tree from whose scented flowers a perfume essence is made, giving Nosy Be it's other name of the 'Perfumed Isle'. Situated in the charming fishing village of Ambatoloaka beside the sea, with a view across to the North West of mainland Madagascar lying a short distance away, the hotel offers four en suite air conditioned rooms and eight en suite ventilated rooms, restaurant and bar. Philip has used his previous experience gained over many years as a restauranteur in Paris, to create an interesting and varied menu, offering French and local cuisine and of course fresh catches of the day! There is a scuba diving centre in close proximity to the hotel. For those who prefer to keep their feet dry but still would like to see big fish, game fishing can be booked in the village. Excursions by boat can be booked to the beautiful surrounding islands. See the marine reserve and colony of fruit bats at Nosy Tanikely, visit the black lemur reserve at Nosy Komba, or go snorkelling off NosyMitsio and Nosy Iranja, the latter being a breeding ground for turtles. If you have fallen in love with the black lemurs they can also be seen at Lokobe reserve, which can be reached by pirogue. If you would prefer to 'wet your whistle' rather than your feet, you could always visit the sugar cane factory at Djamandjary and sample the rum which is also distilled there! For something less energetic why not visit the capital of the island.
Hell Ville, with it's fascinating colonial buildings. Whilst you are there, don't forget to go and browse through the town's market where the island's products including vanilla, coffee, pepper, saffron and other spices can be bought as well as hand embroidered linen, but be ready to barter to get the best price! Or in the cool of the morning take a stroll from the hotel through the
sugar cane fields and see the waterfall at Androadroatra with it's crystal
clear opal waters.
