Day 1:
Arrive Madagascar (Nosy Be or Antananarivo). If you arrive into
Nosy Be airport in the afternoon or evening, you will be met at
the airport and transferred to the Bed & Breakfast in Hell-ville,
set high up on a hill, with great views. Restaurants and nightlife
are there for you to explore at your own leisure and own expense.
If your flights dictate a 1 night stay in Antananarivo on the first
evening, you will spend the night in a small guest house in Antananarivo,
arriving to Nosy Be on the morning of day 2.
Day 2:
Hellville to Turtle Bay Camp - Kalakajour. After breakfast in the morning,
you will board the ski boat, for the sail across to the island of Kalakajour.
During the journey, we will troll for fish and will stop to snorkel in
the clear water. On arrival, settle into your bungalow and enjoy a walk
on the beach and dinner in the boma.[BLD]
Day 3 - 6:
Various Islands. Three days fishing boat hire has been included
in your package, allowing you to enjoy the remaining time for surf
fishing, kayak fishing excellent fly fishing off the rocks, or just
relaxing! Additional ski boat hire is available, should you wish
for more time out on the ocean.
Enjoy some excellent fishing just 3km off Turtle Bay beach, where
you will find the continental shelf dropping from 10 to 100 meters,
running parallel along the coast for 13km.
Because Kalakajour is largely un-populated, fishing opportunities
are fantastic, and some of the species you can expect to catch are
Kingfish, Sailfish, Dog-tooth tuna, Spanish Mackerel and Queen fish.
Kalakajour & the Radama islands is one of the best locations
in Africa for a
diverse fly fishing experience.
The Ski boat is a fully kitted, 28 foot Cape Craft with 2 x 225
horse power engines.
There is also plenty to do on Kalakajour if you have other interests
than fishing. Enjoy exploring around the island in a sea kayak or
taking some time to walk along the beach, or try to find some of
the many birds that call the Radama islands their home. The islands
are also very good for snorkeling, and you may find yourself spending
hours in the water, mesmerized by the fascinating sealife. [BLD]
