Sossusvlei Lodge Sesriem - Namibia
Email Reservations and enquiries: booknamibia@madbookings.com
This luxurious desert resort was built with
adobe bricks typical of Arabian villages and tents similar to those
of the Bedouin.
The lights are solar-powered and, as the 45 tent come rooms have
en-suite showers instead of baths, you can have a unique swim in
the desert by splashing in the clear, cool pool.
The rooms and bar have a marvelous desert view. Little has been
sacrificed to luxury however. The restaurant has a fine German/
Namibian cuisine with fine South African wines.
Reached by road and or air the Sossusvlei Lodge is not only the
perfect base for balloon trips and tours to Sossusvlei and the Namib
Naukluft Park, but also a wonderful holiday destination on its own.

Nature Drives
Guided nature drives in our comfortable all-terrain URI Game viewer vehicles
on the 44 000 hectare expanse that make up our private reserve. You will
experience a relaxing drive through pristine nature where Oryx and springbok
wander freely on the property. Spectacular photographs present themselves
at every turn during this excursion of approximately 4½ hours.
Refreshments are provided.
Sundowners
Depart from the Lodge in the late afternoon on a leisurely drive out onto
the Lodge's private reserve. Watch the shadows lengthen as your guide
takes you out to a panoramic location where sundowner drinks will be served
as you relax and watch the spectacular sunset. The inner tranquility that
a desert sunset imparts while you sit amongst nature is really something
special...
Guided Sunset Walks
The guided sunset walk starts at the parking area of Elim dune. The southern
part of the dune is climbed and the dune valley is then followed for approximately
1,5km. The dune is then crossed again in a northerly direction and the
walk continues on to the quiver tree sundowner spot at the mountain range
to the north. The desert sunset is awaited and enjoyed over a sundowner
drink while taking in the beauty of the dunes and desert plains. After
sunset, guests are driven back to the Lodge. The sunset walk covers ±10km.
A shorter 5 to 7km route is currently being investigated.
Hot Air Balloon Flights
"Up, up and away" as you sail silently over the reddish dune
sea of the Namib. Add an exhilarating dimension to your visit to the desert.
A daily activity for individuals or groups, weather permitting, run by
Namib Sky Adventure Safaris. There are three balloons available accommodating
a maximum of thirty passengers.
Eco-Quad Biking
A wonderful and different way to view the local surrounds. Exhilarating
yet eco-friendly, the fixed quad biking trials have been meticulously
laid out on the Lodge's private reserve so as not to interfere with the
indigenous plant and animal life. Visitors follow the guide and may not
deviate off the trails.
Desert Scenic Flights
Desert Air have a well-maintained 6-seater Cessna 210 light aircraft permanently
based on the Lodge's property along with an experienced pilot who also
doubles as a trained "aerial" desert guide. A number of routes
are available on request and include 40 minute trips to Sossusvlei and
longer round-trip flights down to the coast. The latter excursion provides
wonderful aerial photographs of the desert with its 'sea of dunes' as
well as unforgettable views of the numerous shipwrecks along the so-called
"Skeleton Coast" of Namibia.
Sossusvlei Lodge offers a unique destination for both Indoor
and Outdoor Conferencing in Namibia. Comprehensive facilities
and infrastructures are available for both, along with all-inclusive package
deals.
Conferencing on the doorstep of the Namib Desert is a
once-in-a-lifetime experience with the splendor of mother nature helping
to provide a creative and motivational environment, while the ambience
of the Lodge and the commitment of its "Team" make you feel
right at home.
During off-times, the Sossusvlei Lodge Adventure Centre can provide delegates
with a multitude of breathtaking and exciting planned activities of discovery
into the surrounding area.
Indoor Conferencing
Following closely on the heels of the already popular outdoor conferencing
feature offered by Sossusvlei Lodge, the modern Indoor Conference and
Recreation Centre opened new doors to the national and international conferencing
tourism sector in November 2004. The complex has a seating capacity of
100 and is fully equipped with all the modern audio-visual aids. Seating
arrangements are possible in various styles and shapes with the use of
rectangular and trapezoid tables.
The venue has a retractable central partition so as to cater for smaller
groups as well, with one section providing a lounge, reading room and
library with a fireplace. Furnishings provide comfort while complementing
the building itself, designed by the original Lodge architects so as to
blend in with the existing infrastructure.
The complex is not only proving to be a popular conferencing venue but
is also finding use as a location for product launches, team building
workgroups and even weddings and other special functions.
Outdoor Conferencing
Sossusvlei Lodge is about the outdoors and we are therefore able to offer
yet another special experience; outdoor conferencing. The Lodge is situated
on a 44 000 hectare private reserve of unparalleled natural beauty. This
offers ideal locations for outdoor seminars under a shady camel thorn
tree, product launches, press conferences, film sets and more.
The ideas for exceptional experiences in pristine nature are endless
and limits are merely set by one's imagination and the practicality of
the concept. Every location includes portable ablution facilities while
equipment, refreshments and catering are available on request.
