Welcome to Borden-CarletonPrince Edward Island, Canada. This 'red-head' island is a low-lying
hump of iron-rich red sandstone and earth. Visitors can not help
falling in love with the PEI's charm and relaxed atmosphere. The
warmest and driest months of the year is July and August, this is
when the entire island is in festival mode, but in winter times
snow can be found meters deep. During September Charlottetown has
its PEI International Shellfish Festival which is always a memorable
times where only the best memories are made. To get around the island
your easiest option would be by car, bicycle is also a good choice.
When the first Scottish settlers came in the 1820's, the community
of Borden and surrounding area was known as Carleton Point. The
construction in 1997, of the Confederation Bridge linking Prince
Edward Island with the mainland, marks the beginning of a new era
for Borden-Carleton. The town was built around the ferry service,
which provided employment to residents. |
