Wagner’s cottages becomes Wagner’s Goose and Duck Outfitters when the hunting season begins. Wagner's Cottage & Outfitters AccommodationWe have four 1 bedroom housekeeping cottages that lay 60 ft from the beach. They are housekeeping units and include all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. All linens and towels are included as well as dishware and cookware. The bedroom includes a double bed. In the living room area there is a sofa bed for extra room. Each cottage
has a TV with satellite (although, there is so much to do, we doubt you
will use it). The bathrooms include a bathtub/shower with a sink and toilet. Our cottages are fully equipped with water, fridge, TV, DVD, Satellite, full bath etc. with a full view of a favorite feeding and rafting ground for many types of migratory birds. If you are looking for prime seaside living, these cottages are for you. They are great for families as you can sit on the deck of your cottage over looking the beach where your children may be playing. There is also a swing set for the children to play on, however, the beach acts as the ultimate playground. Warm, safe shallow waters lay just in front of the cottages, perfect for toddlers. The shallow waters make the ideal situation for kayaks. We have kayaks and canoes on site, ready to be taken on the ultimate adventure. We also rent a Riverside Century Home that is located up the road from the cottages. The home has 4 bedrooms with 3 double beds and 1 single bed. It contains a full kitchen, linens, TV & Satellite, BBQ and deck. Duck and Goose Hunting This area provides all the elements necessary for a successful and exciting hunting excursion on the Island. There is an abundance of Canada Geese,Black ducks, Mallards, Teal, and Wood ducks (early season). In all these areas, there are also numerous Ruffled grouse, which can add a unique end to a very exciting and memorable hunt. We can also supply a terrific sea duck package, with Scaup, Magansers, Old Squaw, Canvasbacks, Bluebill, Eider etc. The hunting camps are close to all the necessities to make your trip fun and comfortable: restaurants, sporting goods stores, a liquor stores, convenience stores, gas, groceries are all near-by. The hunt includes all decoys, leased, managed locations (field and water), guide, transportation to the boxes/blinds, and with any luck, one hell of a hunt! The regulations of the Island permit only steel shot for migratory birds so I would suggest trying different brands of shot shells until you find your best selection. Practice your shooting and know your loads (keep your loads BB, #2, and #3 for geese), and I will supply the rest. I have very good success in getting the birds within shooting range and the rest is up to the hunters. Bagged birds can be cleaned and picked locally for a small fee each. Activities Just outside your door... On the hills, a variety of activities await you. Many visitors like to collect driftwood as it can be used for a variety of projects. Others enjoy taking long walks on the beach while listening to the calming waves go in and out. Others like to start a fire and watch the sun begin to set. The sandhills are perfect for kite flying, so bring your kite! Don’t forget to bring water and a snack as the paddle over can really build an appetite. In front of the cottages lay shallow waters that are home to many sea creatures. Clams are very common in front of our cottages so bring a pail or pot and dig up some clams and have a traditional island clambake. Just look for the clams airholes in the sand, then using a shovel, plunger or your hands, dig it up. Within a 15 minute drive If you are eager to learn, there are four museums close by that are worth checking out. The Bideford Parsonage Museum is a restored historical home located in Bideford PEI that was once home to the world famous author Lucy Maud Montgomery. Take a guided tour through the historical home and learn about her life there plus the history of the home, the area and the restoration process. Just up the road from the Parsonage Museum is the Shellfish Museum which
focuses on the oyster industry on PEI. In Tyne Valley there is a local pub that is a great place to go on the weekend nights. Weekly entertainment includes trivia on Friday’s and live music on Saturday’s. We can’t forget about the good food and draft beer, can we? West Prince If you are looking for a more grown-up adventure try taking a drive west on the North Cape Coastal Drive up to North Cape. There you will find a facinating wind test site & interpretive centre, one of the first lighthouses, a seafood restaurant, gift shop, natural rock reef, and the black marsh nature trail. Also located on the North Cape Coastal Drive is West Point Lighthouse Museum. Also nearby is a restaurant, public beach and day park.
