The inn is listed with Frommer’s as “An inn with a country flavor in a first class setting”. We have also been featured in Travel Holiday, “This eight room inn is pleasingly low on ribbons and straw hats, and high on art.” We have also been highlighted on the Canadian televison series Discovering Great Towns the name of the series speaks for itself. The Barachois Inn has also received awards in tourism and heritage. The Tourism Industry Association of P.E.I. - Quality of Excellence Award and the Lieutenant Governor’s Award. As well as numerous architectural and preservation awards, we have been recognized over the years for our dedication within the tourism industry as well as our achievements in the field of Island heritage. Barachois Inn AccommodationSince 1984 the Barachois Inn had opened its doors to many visitors from throughout the world. Many of whom have returned to continue to experience our personalized concierge service and the quality of a five star accommodation. The Inn consists of two main houses, the Gallant House - a historic property built in 1880 which reflects the era and is host to our main facilites, and the MacDonald House - the newest facility offering four large suites that bring a modern feel to a historic era. These two houses provide our guests with the choice of eight different styles of private accommodations. This provides an array of options for their Prince Edward Island vacation. All these choices offer a unique experience with scenic vistas over the Island's north shore, winding water ways, and the properties Victorian Garden. We offer seasonal pricing for our guests. All the rates provided, except for those otherwise listed in the packages, are based on a double occupancy per night. Our High Season is from June 1 to September 30. Our Low Season runs from October 1 to May 31. We recommend reservations during all seasons. The Gallant House There are two sitting areas are offered to all guest of the Barachois Inn. Large wing chairs with footstools allow you to sit back, relax, and perhaps chat with other guests of the Inn from around the world. Evening snacks or beverages are offered upon request and there is no better place to sit back and enjoy a cup o' tea with a biscuit. Books by a variety of authors, including some of the finest PEI literature, are available for guests to borrow. If the spirit moves you, feel free to play a tune on our Circa 1890 Parlour Grand Piano. Breakfast is served daily here in the dining room, offering guests a choice of select seasonal breakfasts and refreshments. Our guests may use the dining room at their leisure, for activities, meals, get-togethers and games. The accomodations are all on the second and third floor of this building, offering guests a spectacular panoramic vista of the Island's North Shore and winding waterways. Victorian Deluxe Room #1 The room features a queen size, walnut, four poster, canopy bed circa 1840, beautifully hand carved, truly a masterpiece of craftsmanship. The room offers Victorian sitting chairs, an exquisite armoire and chest of drawers. The large and luxurious bath offers an air massage tub for two, corner glass shower and a double vanity. Victorian Deluxe Room # 2 Victorian Traditional Room # 3 Victorian Traditional Room # 4 The Suite features an exquisite antique Double Bed made of Elm wood and decorated with Walnut wood carvings. An adjoining Sitting Room with a single Victorian Wrought Iron Bed is ideally suited for two adults or a family travelling with a child. The Sitting Room also features a Victorian Settee and Chairs, and an Antique dresser/writing desk. The Suite has an ensuite three piece bath with a large shower, no tub. Includes Five Star Amenities (snacks and beverages available upon request). June 1 - September 30. MacDonald House This two-storey house consists of a common area and four full service suites that offer beautiful veranda views and cozy fireplaces. Premium Suite # 5 The queen size Wrought Iron Canopy bed, is a replica of a bed owned by Ernest Hemmingway. The accommodation is large and luxurious (570 sq. ft); an open concept suite with a sitting area, fireplace, comfortable arm hair with ottoman and a sofa which can be made into a double bed for those travelling with families. This suite also has a private balcony so you can enjoy the stunning view with privacy. The suite has an area to dine and a kitchenette equipped with a fridge, microwave, dishes, etc., to prepare small meals and snacks. The large and luxurious ensuite bath includes an air massage tub for two, glass walk in shower and a pedestal sink. Premium Suite # 6 The Suite has an area to dine and a kitchenette to prepare small meals and snacks. The large and luxurious ensuite bath includes a six foot air massage tub, walk in/ wheel in shower and a pedestal sink. This Suite is accessible; is a wonderful accommodation for anyone as well as for those who need to have accessible accommodation. Luxury Suite # 7 This large and luxurious suite (520 sq.ft.) with an open concept features a queen size Poster bed, handcrafted on PEI., a sitting area with a fireplace; comfortable arm chair with ottoman, along with a sofa which can be made into a double bed for those travelling with families. This suite also has a balcony facing west, so you can enjoy the spectular PEI sunsets. The Suite has an area to dine and a kitchenette equipped with a bar fridge, microwave, dishes, etc., to prepare small meals and snacks. The luxurious ensuite bath includes a six foot air massage tub, a corner glass walk in shower and a pedestal sink. Luxury Suite # 8 This Suite also has a balcony facing west to enjoy the spectular sunsets. The Suite has an area to dine and a kitchenette equipped with a bar fridge, microwave, dishes, etc., to prepare small meals and snacks. The luxurious ensuite bath includes a six foot air massage tub, glass walk in shower and a pedestal sink. About Prince Edward Island Island Fact:- No place in the province is more than 16 km (10 mi) from the sea. The Island was discovered by Jacques Cartier in 1534. The French called the land Ile Saint- Jean while to the British the Island was known as St. John's Island. The Island renamed itself "Prince Edward", in honour of Edward, Duke of Kent (father of Queen Victoria) in 1799. Population - 138,000 Inn History There are eight major historic sites that are within walking distance from the Barachois Inn. They are the Farmers' Bank, The Doucette House, St. Augustine's Church, The Pioneer Cemetery, St. Mark's Anglican Church, Belcourt Centre, Our Inn and Clifford's Lane. The Barachois Inn is nestled in this historic community. It presents a prominent Mansard roof, characteristic of the "Empire" style houses of the era. The original house (now the Gallant House) was built in 1880 by one of the areas most succcesful merhants, Joseph Gallant. Directions from the Charlottetown Airport, Prince Edward Island When leaving the airport turn right on to Rte #15, heading North. Follow Rte# 15 for approximately 15 minutes until you enter the community of Brackley Beach. At this community you will turn left onto Rte# 6 off of Rte# 15. A large white lighthouse will be at the corner of this intersection. Another good landmark to look for! Keep on Rte# 6, otherwise known as the Rustico Road, by turning to your
right at the Oyster Bed Bridge four-way intersection. Directions from the Confederation Bridge to the Barachois Inn Once in Hunter River, go directly straight through a four-way intersection. You will still be on Rte #13. 1000 feet, past this intersection, there will be a road on the right, Rte#251. Please take this road. Look for the community of Wheatley River. At the end of Rte#251, turn right by the church onto Rte#224. Please follow for approx. 1 minute. Off Rte#224, turn to the first left onto Rte#243. This will be the route that will take you directly to the Barachois Inn. Follow Rte#243 to a four-way intersection. Go directly straight to the top of the hill. We are across the street form the St. Augustine Church. It is a large white church that can be seen for miles. Directions From Wood Island Ferry to the Barachois Inn After disembarking from the ferry you will automatically be on Rte# 1, the Trans Canada Highway. Head west towards Charlottetown. (40 minutes) Upon crossing the Hillsborough Bridge on the outskirts of the city of Charlottetown, you will turn right remaining on Rte# 1 otherwise known as Riverside Drive. At the intersection of Rte#1 and Rte#15, turn right onto Rte#15 otherwise known as the Brackley Point Road. You should now be heading north on #15. The Charlottetown Airport is a good landmark to look for! Follow Rte# 15 for approximately 15 minutes until you enter the community of Brackley Beach. At this community you will turn left onto Rte# 6 off of Rte# 15. A large white lighthouse will be at the corner of this intersection. Another good landmark to look for! Keep on Rte# 6, otherwise known as the Rustico Road, by turning to your
right at the Oyster Bed Bridge four-way intersection. Our family was born and raised on Prince Edward Island. We have an intimate knowledge and a feel for the Island at its best.
